Rasmussen poll released on Sunday has Romney leading the president 59 to 35 percent among likely voters who have served in the military, a result similar to a Gallup survey three months ago.

The military has not expressed an opinion here. You can claim that all you want but that doesn't make it so.

Hey - doesn't the UCMJ have a section in it that specifically PREVENTS any military personnel EXPRESSING that opinion about the President, when still in the middle of a commmission or contract of enlistment? I feel pretty certain about the commission bit..

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I don't know about the commission part. The commission is by act of Congress and at the pleasure of the President. I am technically still an officer in the inactive ready reserve, but I am not prohibited from voicing my opinion of any currently serving officer holder.

You got it backwards, Dog. The only opinions of military personnel that are NOT reflective of the military are them libtards...probably all the ghey ones. Everyone knows the military is always Right Wing, loves war and hates peace hippies like that kenyan.

Funny, that.

Every one of the military folks I know value coming home alive over everything else, including their political preference.

Yes it does, while in capacity of the office or as a representative of the Uniform. The military people that are expressing the opinion are retired. Still as a large majority the military leadership does not like Obama but will exercise the oath the took to support and defend.

I find it odd the liberals supported the Gays that marched in uniform the other day, when the Pentagon gave them a pass on the UCMJ, but know are all in a hemorrhoid uproar because they think a military person may have an opinion contrary to theirs.

MY MY what a pretty little hypocrite you all are.

It appears that the incumbent Commander-in-Chief has lost the confidence of the US military personnel. Wow.

happened during the carter years too.

Only if you believe that these a couple of wackos represent our military. I don't see any evidence of that.

you'd find quite a few probably don't, but they don't say anything for a good reason.

We get emails every week from the JAG, about the UCMJ and Hatch act provisions that prohibit anyone still on active duty, or current civil service from expressing political opinion in a public forum. Usually has two or three examples of somone being punished.

Yeah, the active duty part is the key. They have had trouble going after Guard and Reserve members not on extended Federal Active Duty at the time. That won't stop them from trying to ruin your career, however, if you draw too much attention to yourself.

BTW, the Hatch Act (1939) does not apply to Military personnel, only civil servants.

It applies to reserve who are on Active Duty for training, Annual Training etc etc. National Guard in Drill status is a little more tricky but generally it's a non no

Thats why I quoted both the UCMJ and Hatch act. All military installations have both active duty and civil servants so they kill both birds with one email.
