Anyone know of a link that I can watch Eid prayers from?

Where is Rahma? :help:

Unfortunately, none of the usual places carry eid prayer recordings. Soweeee

So, we had the fun experience of thinking eid will be tuesday, but then realizing every mosque in town was holding it today. So, got up and dressed in 15 minutes to make it to the breakfast at the masjid at 6:30, only to find that the key was missing. Stayed in the car for a half an hour until someone found the key, went in, prayed fajr, made takbeerat, and then went on an epic quest for gas station cappucino. I was just going to the one a few blocks down the road, but some guys wanted Holiday gas station coffee, so off we went.

Got back in time for the congregational takbeerat, only to be roped into preparing the cookies for the after prayer party. Alhamduillah, I got away in time to find a spot inside the masaula to sit without getting squished.

Husband is still at the masjid hanging out with some new friends. inshaAllah soon we'll be off to the mall of america for some roller coaster fun B)

Well we found out last night that the Eid started here today in chicago....Sofyan and his brother are so excited...They will be off shortly to do some visiting etc....i on the other hand am off to work til 9 tonight....i feel guilty because i am not here for the Eid...there will not be an elaborate feast, or anything prepared by me..which probably means there wont be one at all....there was no way i could get off work though with it only being my 2nd week....not to mention 3 out of the 6 people i work with are muslim, so they requested off decades ago...what can i do right?

hope everyone has a great day

Eid Mubarak everybody!!!

I have some good news. We have bought a house. It is so cute. The young couple that lived there totally remodeled it in March. Everything is new. Even put a wood privacy fence around the backyard. They have bought a big house on the golf course and was anxious to part with it. :D So they accepted our offer pretty quick. They are closing on their new house in the middle of November and we will close on ours the next day. Her father is a lawyer and will do the closing for nothing. Alhamdullilah!

Eid Mubarak to all!

Just a typical Monday at work for me....waiting on hold with the DOS.

My sweet husband and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary yesterday. He is such a sweetheart! He got my daughter to buy flowers and a card for me. I was sad since I only sent him an e-card. He told me "sweetheart, you already gave me the best present, the love I have waited all of my life for."

Is it any wonder I love this man!

Off the phone with the DOS....3 weeks now and still not at Casa???

So how is it that I felt absolutely horrible at work and as soon as I got home I felt fine. Still a little uh, but I don't feel sick to my stomach anymore. I told the hubby when I got home and he was like, "Are you pregnant and didn't tell me?" I laughed and told him maybe. Who knows maybe I am and I don't even know it. That might explain my wild cravings for banannas!

When I got home, I got on the computer and checked my e-mail. I recieved an e-mail from my youngest sister-in-law. The whole e-mail was in french, which I can't speak, but I got the gist from the word Photo. Then I sent her a IM just to say hi and that there was no picture and if she could send it again. about 10 minutes later she got on. I was walking to her in english for a little while, then decided she wasn't understanding everything I was saying. So I opened Google Translate and started having it translate to french. She was so amazed! I told her what I was doing. Then she asked if we could speak english again so she can practiced and asked me to help her learn. I promised her. Then I found out that it was Adil's Cousin! She is a year younger than I am. She asked me if I would still help her since I didn't know who I was talking to. I still promised her. We talked on the computer for over an hour! Then I went to switch the laundry and she was gone! It was awesome! His mom was telling her to tell me that she gives me a big kiss and that she loves me and his sisters were saying the same thing! It was so fun! I love my in-laws!

Anyway, I have to get going. I want to take a little nap before I start making dinner. Take care everyone!

Well it's 12:51 CST and I get to start the Monday thread. I have been cooking for the last 5 hours and feel like I have not accomplished a darn thing! I really wanted to make tomorrow awesome for Youssef but I only got 3 kinds of cookies made and Msemmen tonight. I think tomorrow I will make Bghir and some oatmeal, fresh fruit and his favorite yogurt/milk/fruit drink for breakfast. Lunch I'm not positive about yet but probably a tagine of some sort and for dinner I want to make a big meal - with like 3-4 appetizers, a tagine or couscous and something else but I'm not sure what yet. I want to invite my mom and step-dad over for dinner to celebrate Eid with us, even though they are really not into the whole "my daughter is a Muslim" thing, I think it might help for them to celebrate with us.

We went shopping and get Youssef a few new things to wear tomorrow (Old Navy had a sale lol), and got our son some new toys for Eid. (He just got a bunch of new clothes). He got a play food set (Youssef thinks it's weird 'cus he's a boy but he LOVES to play cook) and some airplanes to go with his massive play car collection. I got a new shirt for work too.

I am supposed to start a new job tomorrow but the hiring manager didn't call me Friday afternoon like he said he would, or this weekend so I'm not really sure if I should just show up at the place tomorrow morning (I don't even know what time!) or if I should just wait and see. I'd like to stay home so that I can cook tomorrow but if I have to go I will obviously. I'm really happy to have gotten this job - the pay is so much better, plus it's a desk job which my body is really starting to need. I was diagnosed with anemia last week so being on my feet for 8 hours was really sucking the life out of me. Anyway this went way long! I hope everyone has a great day tomorrow and a Happy Eid if you're celebrating!!

Mabrouk Eid! I am jealous of the Bghrir - love that stuff dipped in honey! I might have to get off my butt and make some, too. ALthough when I make it, it is thick and rubbery. My "musskin" husband.

I think that is wonderful for you to invite your family over and celebrate Eid - and it will be education for them. We are planning a big party for Eid El Kebir / New Year's and invited our extended family. Probably will skip eating the Sheep's Head Couscous though. :)

Happy day

Amanda
