OK, I recognize that practically everything in VisaJourney talks about submitting the police report as part of the IV package... And as per my prior post, we are starting that the process of getting the police report...

But I did find something from the HCMC Consulate website that states that we will need to get the police report, along with other documents, while waiting for an interview date... Probably too good to be true, but hoping it is :-)

We are sponsoring my mother-in-law from Vietnam... Getting close, but I am pretty bummed if we have to wait a month before submitting the IV package.

Thanks in advance.

here is the link of what is to be sent to NVC...

If you don't send it, you will likely get an RFE for it...

I don't know how accurate this is, but we just got my mother-in-law's interview data and they included a list of things to bring, one was a police report, but for each item the note whether we have already satisfied that requirement.

The fact that they list it as something to possibly bring, leads me to think perhaps they would put you in the queue position for an interview even without the police report. I don't know this for fact though as we ended up waiting for the police report.

I thought I would share this in case others are in the same situation...

We're having the same problem...

We got our police checks done before sending the NVC package, but the station told us the results didn't come back to us and had to be sent directly to the consulate in our country, not NVC. So we sent the NVC package without them, so if they ask us for a RFE we won't have the results as they're being sent directly to our interviewing consulate... :S

Ly lich tu phap #2. You don't need to translate it into English . I didn't submit the original instead sent copy . They said its okay

Thank you. How about birth & marriage certificates, they have to be original or certified copies be sent to NVC? Also you have to pay a fee for police certificate in Vietnam?

Well I'm strongly suggested you send both original and copy for both but keep its separate folder . Please send your mail with track and confirm option. I recommend go usps for this and do overnight shipping . They guarantee its delivery by noon if not you can get your money back. The copy send by priority mail both have tracking confirm . I think you should told your wife to wait until you have everything then go ship it. I was out of luck i lost original justice record check . I have to send copy of them to nvc. Also the justice record check # 2 cost around 10 dollars per applicant. I'm addition ask your wife to everything by DHL when ship to us . They cost is less higher compare to ups. Anyway, good luck everything

Please write your case number on every documents you submitted to them..,
