Will this be a problem? K-1 visa related

We've received our MNL case number & have scheduled the interview. NVC first told me that the our case was ready to be sent to the embassy, so we we paid the visa fee & scheduled the interview (for my fiancee). When I called the NVC again few days later to check to see if they've sent our petition/case to the embassy, now they tell me that our case is under "additional processing". I've been in "additional processing for about 2 weeks now and fear that the NVC won't be able to send the case/petition to the embassy in time for the interview. Will this be a problem? Should my fiancee go ahead with the interview or postpone it for a later date?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

It appears you jumped the gun. You can't interview without your package at embassy.

Here is the link to consulate for Manila information on VJ

Read down to packet IV and what it states about K applicants.

The problem it will cause is there cannot be an interview until USEM has the packet from the NVC and has had time to process their part of it. I would reschedule it now for the next available slot to allow it to reach USEM.

When is your interview scheduled for?

K1's aren't usually at NVC for too long unless NVC sends the petition back to USCIS because something is missing in the petition, or inital background check - please read this; http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/National_Visa_Center#Administrative_Processing_at_NVC

There is also a 102 pages long topic about it, search for "STUCK @ NVC for AP" if you want to read other members' experience.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

When is the interview of your fiancee? We had the same problem.. My fiance got our manila case number July 9 (US date) Then after few days (can't barely remember) he called the NVC again.. He was told that our petition is under "AP" We have waited for almost a month from NVC to be forwarded in manila US embassy.. Luckily I got an email from embassy saying "We received the electronic file from the State Department's National Visa Center (NVC) today, August 2, 2012, and should receive the U.S. Immigration Service-approved visa petition (Form I-129F) shortly." After few days my fiance received NVC letter through his mail box saying, our petition was been forwarded to USEM.. So just in time before my interview.. Thanks god..

If I were you, try to email NVC and USEM.. Include prayer as well..

Good luck!!

We scheduled for the first week of October. We're hoping to keep that schedule, but ready to postpone if needed :( You're right, I'm going the email route for information next time for status information. And a prayer :)

Good luck to you also & thanks for your reply.

You still have time.. Don't cancel the interview.. I was about to cancel my interview too but i gave my self a chance to wait until the last week before my interview.. Just send an email to NVC and USEM.. Try to call the NVC a week before her interview and see if they forward your petition here in manila.. If not then you will have to cancel the interview.. For now just call the NVC constantly.. Don't take the risk of cancelling the appointment now.. :)

I had a similar situation, but as long as you get the letter indicating that the NVC has sent your letter to USEM, then you should have ample time. When I called originally to set up my appointment, they said as long as you recieved the letter in the mail indicating that your case is being forwarded by NVC to USEM then you shouldn't have any issues.
