I agree with your exercise comments. However, I cannot agree with the food comments. Did you see Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution?

WIC gives out chocolate milk here. I've known of people giving the chocolate milk to their very young children. They get them while they're young and the bad eating habits continue their whole lives. It's really very sad.

People on WIC also want beer... and they demand that WIC should pay for beer and cigs too.

This is the main reason lot of the time you will see me opposing those programs coz ppl misuse them.

We used to drink chocolate milk every day, have cookies in the lunch line, pizza, spaghetti, steak fingers, hamburgers, etc.. We were healthy. We were fine. This was the 80's/90's - We weren't fat, we didn't have issues with behavior.

Contribution of attitudes and children has had a lot more to do with modern parenting than anything else. A lack of discipline from the onset. Parents not having time for their kids. Giving them a video game instead of family activities. Being a child's best friend instead of someone in a leadership role. - Teaching your kids to go out and play with the neighborhood kids. There are a multitude of factors involved. Changing a child's diet in this current state of upbringing won't make a damn bit of difference to their future. ESPECIALLY if the parents are taking them to McDonalds every night anyway.

The best thing a parent can do if they don't like the school food is to make kids take their own. Bread, Sandwich Meat, Yogurt, Apple - simple and inexpensive lunch that costs less than $10/week for a child.

Sorry, but if you ate "pizza, spaghetti, steak fingers, hamburgers, etc.." you weren't healthy. There is nothing nutritious in any of those foods. Also, remember too that as times have changed, food has become more and more processed. We have things like HFCS now. Children need healthy food, not fast food. Fast food should be a treat, not something eaten daily.

News flash, the big problem is, people are living too long. In many countries the kids and grand kids they never bothered to have can't afford to care for them on into 30-40 years of retirement.
