So, I just received a letter to say:

We are pleased to inform you we have received an approved petition in support of your fiancee Visa application!

Happy Days!

However, a question...

It says, "The K1 petition is valid for four months from the date of action (31st of July) and must be valid to process your case to conclusion.

Does this mean I have four months to get the K1 in my passport, and then 6 months to enter the USA with the K1, or do I have four months to get my K1 in my passport and touch down on American soil?

I could do with a little more than 4 months to have the savings in my bank that I was hoping for!

Also, thank you so much to everyone for your support and advice so far. I am extremely proud of myself for assembling a petition that had no RFE or issues, and was approved in less than 5 months!

:D

Before this goes any further, OP, please go to your regions sub forum to ask questions like this as things become VERY region specific after this stage. Especially with extensions of the petition. Some places will do this automatically, and some will require you to request it. Mik2012 is not correct. Payment of the visa fee does not extend your petition status. It is the consular who will extend the petition validity if required.

Are you a UK filer? Bits of your profile seem to indicate so.

Heres the link to the UK Subforum

And here is the link to the excellent, 'NOA2 to Interview' thread, which should tell you everything you need to know

If you are a UK filer, your petitions validity will be extended automatically if required unless it's an extremely long time.

Can someone just confirm for me please.

With my letter stating the US Embassy in London (I'm the UK Citizen) has received an approved petition and I have 4 months to process my case to conclusion, this means I have 4 months to get the K1 in my passport.

Once that's in my passport, do I then have some time I can stay in the UK before I have to go to the US?

Photomile responded correctly. The petition will automatically be extended if the wait for the interview goes beyond the four month validity of the petition. Once it's in your passport you have six months to immigrate.

You have the right idea in general.

Just lately I've noticed people reporting London is making the visa validity 6 months past the medical exam date. It used to be 6 months past the approval date, which is usually the interview date.

The petition is valid 4 months. They want you to apply and get on with your part. If you are actively trying or if London can't interview you before 4 months, it is extended. if you do nothing, they could assume you abandoned and cancel it, but they would contact you first to ask if you still intend to apply for the visa.

Sounds pretty much along with what I thought.

I just had a panic when I received the letter that I had 3 and a half months left to get my visa and land in the US with my bags packed!

Still though, very happy to have received the news that my petition was successful with no RFE's!
