Poor design + disenfranchised workers = substandard product.

... disenfranchised workers ...

BL workers, their work ethic (they didn't like working ...) and the unions (strike over anything and everything at the drop of a hat) are some of the main reasons that there is no longer a British volume car manufacturer.

####### design and limp-wristed management didn't help, mind you.

Oh, and I owned a Rover. It was a good car, but, by that time, the reputation of the company was irretrievable and it was only a matter of time before the company ran out of time. :(

:ot2: No need to get this thread closed. I personally hope that GM doesn't go bankrupt, nor Ford or Chrysler. If you are an American or US citizen, wishing a major American company to go out of business is damn near treason. Shame on you.

It's very interesting that the union leadership weren't so interested in giving up some bucks on the hourly wages.

I refuse to buy a new GM car for many reasons now - but I'd happily buy a used model, and support my local mechanic to keep her running.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

headbonk.gifheadbonk.gifheadbonk.gif Charles, my lad, I may be an Oldsmobiler (VIN # starts with 3) but even I know that products from Chevrolet Motor Division have a VIN that starts with a 1, traditionally. That's it you have a 13 digit VIN, The newer 17 digit vin code for cars starts with a country of origin and manufacturer. I have some bad news for you, your 2002 Silverado was produced in Canada, probably in Oshawa. It might explain your obsession with Timbits. My Tahoe was built in Arlington, Texas and its first three digits are 1GN.

Pontiac is #2

Chevrolet is #1

This might help.

I thought GM started paying back on their loan a while back? You know, it'd be nice if they would come up with a car that Americans like. Why do all the e-cars look like #######?

Don't feel bad, you could have bought a Tahoe or Suburban (Janesville, WI) but this might help you feel better.

I would hate for them to go out of business, but if they can't make a profit they need to. That is the natural order of things. We can't afford to keep subsidizing a business that can't compete.

What about the Cadillac CTS series, Corvette, Camaro, etc?

My mom had a Caddy late 90's. Biggest piece of ####### made. Engine blew at 65K. Car was about to fall apart by then. It was well maintained.

Sorry but I am from GA and Camaro's just have that redneck stigma to them.

As for Corvette. Ok that is a legend but way overpriced compared to the Mustang, but admittedly a little more cool factor, for the unwashed masses.

I've always loved the pony cars. The Camaro vs Mustang bench racing has been going on for about 45 years now. And there have been several legendary models of each. Cadillac has made some fine cars the past 10 years or so since they turned the brand around. Try out a CTS-V for nice performing GM iron.

I'd like one of these too.

Thanks I went to look at a 2011 California Special but the Wife wanted a Rag Top. I know who wears the pants in my house but more importantly I know who takes them off.

Shelby GT 500 2013 blacked out is my dream car. They are currently getting an 8-12K premium on top MSRP at dealers and going like hot cakes.
