Hello Everyone:

My wife is needs to file for a Hong Kong Police Clearance (a CONCC) and we noticed that the payment must be a bank draft. She is crrently living in the Philippines any ideas on how to get a bank draft payable in Hong Kong Dollars?

Her bank will not issue the draft in HKD and others will but she must have an account with the bank 1 to 3 months.

Thanks for your help!

Mark

The usually require ID before they will issue a police clearance. If not, perhaps there is a family member or friend that she could send the money to to get it. If not, try the Hong Kong consular in Philippines. Did you tell USCIS that she is no longer living there? Perhaps there is a waiver.

Thanks I'll check on the waiver.

If DOS thinks the clearance is available then it will be required by the embassy at your wife's interview and according to the DOS reciprocity table she can apply for it.

http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_5455.html?cid=8994#docs

"The issuance of a Certificate of No Criminal Conviction is a charged service provided by the Hong Kong Police Force. Both individuals residing in Hong Kong and individuals residing outside of Hong Kong may apply."

A quick search on here will also show that many others have been in your position and were required to get the clearance. Didn't see a definitive answer about how to get the bank draft but one post mentioned they were able to get a bank draft from BPI by going with a friend who had an account there.

Try typing in "Hong Kong Bank draft" into the search engine and see where that gets you. As the previous poster mentioned you can always call the Chinese embassy in the Philippines to see if they have any suggestions or call the issuing authority in Hong Kong.

Another option might be to see if you can get the HK bank draft from your bank and fedex/dhl it to her.

Good luck.
