We are filing DCF in Kiev 11/14 and hopefully will have an interview 2-4 weeks later. One issue is her international passport, it will have her maiden name. In Ukraine, it can take a couple months to get a new passport, so looking for no delays. My question, when she goes to her interview at US Embassey as well as her entrance into US, will she be require a new passport with her new married name, or will her old passport with marriage certificate be enough for her to enter the US? Thanks

Who told you a couple of months for an updated passport? Not true, as it can be done expedited and done in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for quick reply, she was told when call ministry? But it is possible she did not ask for expedite service. In your instance, how did you handle this and is it required for her to update her passport, or can she travel on old international passport with marriage certificate?

I have a different set of circustances as I am a K-1. My fiancee had to get hers corrected due to an error and she got it solved within a couple weeks. I would think you would want that updated before you bring her here as trying to do it via the Ukraine consulates here in the states takes much longer. I have heard that people have travelled on the od with the marriage certificate attached but I have no experience..

Thanks, I will have her recheck the ministry on expedite service. Currently I see interviews for DCF filings is about 2-3 weeks after turning in Packet 3, and we are planning on submitting our packet 3 on our I-130 application date. The only thing we dont have is the passport with her married name, since we donot get married till 11/10.

As an aside, remember you are in Ukraine and many thngs can be speeded up for a small incentive.

Understand about the small incentive, thats how we are getting away with getting married and everything else needed in Ukraine in <14 days. Not sure if I want to offer the Foreign Ministry a incentive. But will have Sonya investigate and see what she can come up with. Thanks

Understood. I will ask my fiancee what the normal "expedite" cost was. I do know she did not incentivized anyone but I know it was more than standard processing.

Appreciate that, and how long it took her as well would be great.

I also have my International passport under my maiden name and Green Card under my new last name. All I had to do is to send my passport to the Russian Consulate and ask them to make a record in the passport that my last name has changed. It took about a week to do that. I never had any problems travelling. I always have my marriage livence and translation into Russian (would be Ukranian in your case) with me and was asked to show it only once at JFK airport. Other times I just showed the record in the passport. I'm not sure where exactly you can do it in Ukraine but I'm sure it could be done. Hope it helps :)
