hey certified copy is not same as notorized...certified copy is also issued by agency which issue original..its copy other than original issued by same agency.its have original stemp and signature of appropriate authority.

i think its good idea to send them certified copy. But if you do decide to send them original, make sure to send them also 1 extra copy of all documents so they can return the original at interview. make copy for your self too.

you could get notarized only from government officials. i think which has red stamp and also make sure to tell them put true copy stamp too.

But NVC can tell you better of what kind of certified copy is acceptable from indian visa applicant documents. My husband sent just true copy stamp documents, he didn't even notarized them, but still they accepted. But they didn't accept that for my cousin's wife like that, she had get her document notarized by only government officials. so just confirm with NVC which kind of they would consider certified copy :)
