Hey all, my first post here so bear with me ;-)

Sept '11 we filed the I-751 and received the notice to go get biometrics done that was all good, case status was displayed on the USCIS site, then it wasn't updated at all and I started to become a little anxious, then received a letter from USCIS for RFE in the first week of July '12.

We compiled more evidence eg: wills, water bill, Dog adoption papers and subsequent vet vaccination papers showing both our names and our address, 2 notarised affidavits, House insurance policy with both our names and address on it and mailed it back to USCIS VSC first week of August ( our deadline was Sept 28) So here we sit nervously waiting for a reply, I gotta tell ya this is harrowing ! since we started this whole immigration process back in 2008 it's been totally smooth sailing, everything has gone according to plan and not a single problem encountered 'till this RFE.

It appears that the "online case status" is out of order permanently ?

cheers

the most that they look for is finacials banking jointly, credit cards jointly.tax transcripts three years jointly.401-k or ira, or stocks you named as the beneficary.the uscis knows that you will not trust any one with your finacials. if you did not love them,

Yup there was those kind of things included in the first packet sent last year, and they still asked for more.

We received an RFE too but our online case status still said "Initial Review" even after we sent our response to the RFE. The status wasn't updated until after they had already approved our I-751 and ordered card production. Since then, we've received 2 more case updates - 1 when they mailed it and the most recent one when it was picked up by USPS. I just called USCIS too and they gave me a tracking number for the green card.

Congrats on your approval  I can remember when we did our "adjustment of status" and got the conditional GC the online case status worked fine and was updated in a timely manner.

Thank you very much! ^___^ I hope you get your approval soon too!!!

I do remember that - we got a lot of *touches* (Last Updated dates) too... This time around it seems like they don't scan the files in and you don't really know if they were working on your case until you get something in the mail.

We mailed back our RFE response on August 1st via USPS Express Mail and they received it on August 2nd. We received the approval letter on August 13th and the Decision Date on the letter said August 8th ^___^ so only 4 working days? We filed at CSC though, I'm not sure how fast the RFE turnaround time is with VSC right now :(

I really hope that since it's an RFE response, they'll actually work a lot faster on it though ;) I will keep my fingers crossed for you guys! ^__^

My husband and I ended up sending documents about 2 inches thick (way thicker than our original I-751 packet) for our RFE response because we were so worried that we missed something. And then once we mailed it off, I worried that whoever was working on our case would think that it was way too much and set it aside and work on something else that didn't have so much paperwork. We did make sure to include a complete cover letter listing ALL of the contents of the packet and we had tabs on all of the evidence.

Thanks :) it's like I said in another thread with the RFE ( which i now understand is almost a standard ) we kinda feel like we've been accused of a non-bona-fide marriage and we've been asked to prove ourselves innocent.

So we'll just have to cross our fingers and hope like crazy that it's approved, most day's since the RFE was returned I have lost my appetite and sometimes wake in the night and it's the first thing I think of.

I felt the same way when we received the RFE :( Even my husband who is usually really calm about these things (I'm the one who worries constantly) was incredibly frustrated. We had sent so much evidence already that we thought we covered everything. We just kept telling ourselves that there was no way they could deny us because we truly love each other and we have nothing to hide. :)

I was the same way while we were preparing the RFE response and even after we sent it... I couldn't sleep or eat. I really wasn't even expecting a reply from them for at least 2 weeks so the approval letter was a complete surprise!

Just try to keep your mind off it in the meantime ;) I know it's hard but at least you're with the one you love while you wait ;) And once you get your approval, you don't have to worry about USCIS until you apply for citizenship (if you choose to do so ;)) ^_^

Don't worry, you are NOT alone.

I filed mine back in June of 11, went through all that RFE, this and that. End up it being "relocated" to the local office and never being heard again. I put in a SR, all I got was an empty promise letter. So I got hold of my congressman and have them pushed USCIS, while I filed my naturalization. I'll take my oath ceremony in a week, while my 751 is still PENDING.

Bottom line, make an InfoPass and have an i-551 stamp on your passport to extend another year if it's getting close to the 1-year mark without any results. Have your congressman to give you a hand IF you have put in a service request with no results.

It's not confidence inspiring is it, I called the USCIS about an hour ago asking if the online status check was operational and it's like talking to a brain dead robot  they are so removed from being human it's beyond crazy, and I still didn't get an answer!

Well is your ROC taking ridiculously long (9+ months)? If it is, call in and ask for a service request to your case. They should send you something in writing, usually with a time frame that they will get back to you.

If they don't? Get hold of your congressman and let them sort it out.

You have to push them, otherwise they are just going to troll you around.
