PHOENIX, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Arizona Republican Governor Jan Brewer, in yet another clash with the White House, issued an order on Wednesday barring undocumented immigrants who qualify for temporary legal status in the United States from receiving any state or local public benefits.

The action was a response to relaxed deportation rules issued by the Obama administration on Wednesday.

The only part of that which confuses me is why not let them apply for a state id and a drivers licence? i mean isn't she the one that stated you must have id to begin with? i dont really pay attention to the pilictics too much espeically since i can't vote yet, but that part of the article perplexes me...

Coz they are in the country illegally and Obama administration is just trying to give them amnesty for their political gain.

It being a election year Obama administration is trying to buy the Hispanic vote by granting amnesty to the undocumented aliens.

I believe the Arizona law you mention states that all LEGAL residents of Arizona must produce id when asked by authorities. If a person is illegal, then it makes sense that they would not have a legitimate id to show.

Right but if they do get thsi suposed EAD or w/e you want to equate it to..wouldn't that then mean in the eyes of the law (well federal i guess) that they would be legal?i mean..i would rather they got a dl and insurance rather than drive without it and hit me and then cost even more money.

That's the whole point, Kimbear. They don't want them to have IDs so they can't get stuff.

Like it or not, once the EAD is issued, the illegal immigrants who qualify for this are no longer illegal or undocumented (albeit temporarily). So as far as denying DL's, pretty safe to predict that when this ends up in court, Arizona is going to fail again.

No...its that the fed law will make them temporaily Legal. You all make it sound like they will still be illegal, when technically speaking they wont be. thus my confusion about the DL and ID. Since they will be legal then.

RWNs don't understand that part. The federal government decides when an alien is in the country legally. Arizona does not.

Jan Brewer is attempting to circumvent the new law by not giving the illegals their id's. No id's, no benefits.

RWNs don't understand that part. The federal government decides when an alien is in the country legally. Arizona does not.

i don't think gegel understands that the constitution is a series of limitations on the federal government, and that every thing the federal government is not given express right to determine is purview of the States and the People.
