When I took the PAL flight from SFO to Manila last year, Guam was on the schedule, but the flight did not stop.

No direct via Delta. I wish there were though.

Philippine Airlines is the only truly direct flight. You probably won't have as much trouble putting together the connecting flights to LAX on the way over, however, you might have trouble coming back. Coming back, I think the flight gets to LA around 8pm or so, and you might have to spend the night in LA and catch a flight on to Orlando the next day.

Are you sure? I've seen delta say direct and then they stop to refuel. Somehow not switching planes to them is direct. I was thinking LAX would have a direct flight but it's hard to tell if they stop to fuel unless someone has actually flown on it.

ha ha yes, madtownguy refers to my home town though.

Oh! really? wow! I hope not all guys there are mad all times! hahaha...nice and naughty town LOL Thanks for the info. :)

Philippines Airlines flies nonstop to and from Manila every single day from both San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Only the direcction TO Manila 'may' stop for fuel in Guam, and that is only dependent on the weight of the plane and the headwind.

Both times I flew from San Francisco, we didn't have to stop for fuel, because the plane was light enough, so it was a non-stop flight, about 14 hours.

Coming 'from' Manila, neither plane to LA or SF needs to refuel, because the flight is only about 12.5 hours, and that is no problem for the plane to make on a single tank. (it's shorter because of the tail wind).

So yes, there are most certainly direct flights at least to Los Angeles and San Francisco. Every day.

Hawaiian airlines also has a 1 1/2 hour layover in Hawaii on it's way to Manila from SFO or Sacramento. PAL , like previous posters said, has 1 stop scheduled but rarely does it stop in Guam for the SFO - MNL flight.

Delta doesn't do a refueling stop, they are scheduled stops. No matter what city you leave from is the states to head to manila, you have to stop in Narita or Nagoya Japan on Delta. And the layover will be only 1-3 hours.

Philippine Airlines is the only one that goes direct from the states and the above poster mentioned LAX. I thought it was SFO also and I think Vegas has one stop, but I'm not sure on the details on Philippine Air. Good luck.

If you are flying from Detroit I like the Det-Japan Route only due to time (I don't like Japan's airports though). But from Det you can choose Hong Kong as well I believe or China. I am looking at traveling back for my fiancee's interview and coming uot of Ft Myers I have 3 and then deep breath when I hit Manila for one more down to Bohol  I love traveling though. All of that though in 26 hours. Going through China on American. Good luck

Good luck and awesome you can go for the interview. But I don't envy your trip on that airline through that place... Ft. Myers-ATL-NRT-MNL on Delta in 20 hours sounds better to me...
