Dear Friends

I am very confused about CR-1 Process. I am a US citizen and married to Indian Citizen. I have a question about DS-230 and I-864?

I already submitted DS-230 and I-864 to NVC as per their Instructions. My wife signed DS-230 part 1. NVC accepted it and Just waiting for my wife case to be transferred to New Delhi US Embassy.

I Called VFS and asked if I had to Submit DS-230 or I-864 again when she receives packet 3? Answer I got was they do not know...Stupid Staff. According to NVC website, it says that anything we submitted to them would be transfer to the embassy where beneficiary would be scheduled for Interview. What should I do?

I am here to ask help from people who had to go through the same process.

Thanks in Advance

As far as i know, If you have submitted at NVC, so you don't need to submit package 3 at VFS. Bec your spouse will get package 4 now which is interview letter and medical. But make copy of it. I know mumbai VFS wants copy of DS 230, so maybe Delhi its same thing.

Make copy of I 864 and documents, and send it to your spouse just so they have that information as well at the time of interview. I 864 is deff not needed to submit at VFS.

You Call the delhi consulate to make sure this any information when it comes to documents, not VFS.

I called NVC today and they told me no need for I-864 and DS-230. Co would have at time of the Interview. My wife would not be receiving packet 3. NVC told me only thing i will be waiting is appointment letter for Interview. Thats it.

FYI to fellow members if you live in USA make sure you are your spouse Agent so all paperwork would process faster and your spouse will not have to do Packet 3. Less hassal.

I hope my wife gets a Interview date next month.

Big thanks to VFS members. Very big help.. :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Thanks DEE

your welcome :)

Thats why i said "If you have submitted at NVC, so you don't need to submit package 3 at VFS".

I knew that already if i wasn't the agent for my husband then he would end up doing everything from india, but even from india its not big headache anymore because DHL service is great, they deliver my husband Ds230 package within 4 days.

Please, if you can add your timeline that would great help to other members to see how their process will go.

For Interview Date, try to check other new delhi members timeline. you will get idea of when your interview might come. :)

This whole process with NVC is way confusing. We wouldn't be able to get throught it without VisaJourney members. Thanks a lot!

p.s. A short question as to our packet 3.

My husband mailed his I-864, but as we have a joined sponsor, we didn't know that we had to send his proof of citizenship. SO today I've received an email from NVC saying that they require some docs...

In order to send them, should my husband reasseble the whole package again, OR just send the required documents??

thanks a lot for response!

NVC can be very confusing. Just send the documents that they need or ask by NVC, you don't need to do the whole package again unless ask by NVC. :) But make sure you put the bar coversheet provide by NVC with the request of document that they send.

I will keep it updated with my wife interview process in this thread. For my personal Experience if somebody has any question they should call NVC first to find out what exactly going on. I called them numerous time for clarify what and why they are asking this. NVC reps always very kind and courteous.

NVC guy told me it was very unlikely i would get the interview date on sep but I may but he did not gave me any timeline.

DEE thanks Again... :) :)

Dee do you know if my wife should get a bona fida marriage affidavit from her relative and parents? if yes where should i find a sample ?

Thanks

ur most welcome :)

I'm not sure about this, most of my cousins spouse never did this.

they only had this at interviews

Marriage certificate

wedding pics, pics after the wedding and before together and with other people too.

wedding card of yours

wedding card from others which has your name and spouse

email, chat, skype, mail and greeting cards if you sent each other....

if you have hotel reservation with both your names ever,

if you have any bills that shows both of your name. like bank account,

its not necessary to have affidavit from relative or parents.

most of my cousins got married in India, at interview they never had this. my husband or my brother wife doesn't have this either. But if you don't have enough proof to show CO that your relationship real then i would say its good idea to get one. Its upto you if you want to get one, then there is no harm in that. :)

i know we have to wait for interview in october....its like forever...waiting waiting waiting :(

i'm happy aug is almost ending :D i'm going india in september or october for few months, can't wait to see my husband and my in-laws :D
