Good morning Salwa,

(F)(F)(F) EID MUBARAK!!!! (F)(F)(F)

I understand how sad you are during this very happy celebration. I felt the same when I was in Morocco during the Christmas holidays. But being with my husband was what I wanted more than anything.

This is also my husbands first year here for Ramadan and EID. He has been in thwe states since August 10. I feel so bad for him. The worst part is I am working today (12 hours!) and he worked last night and he will be working tonight. He had mentioned he would like to be in Morocco next year for Ramadan, so I know he is homesick.

I echo the same with all the replies you have received thus far and that is>>>

it is normal to miss this time with family and freinds.

Perhaps you can start your own tradition with you husband as suggested and go to the mosque together. I know I want to do better with my husband. I just wasnt sure what to do. I am hoping we can start our our tradition too.

Like everyone says, pregnacy can have a huge difference in your emotions, so be kind to yourself my dear.

Many Hugs :)(F)

Eid Mubarak Salwa! Kolsana wenty tayeba habibity!

I hope you're feeling better today inshallah. I wish I was living closer to you..I would come to visit. I know it must be so difficult for you during this time to be away from your family. I can't imagine how you feel as Eid here is nothing like in Egypt. I hope you're spending a nice day with Mark today inshallah.

the home sickness will go away with time i can promise u that. my husband was homesick for about 6 months to a year and now he is doing fine. infact i think he feels its so much of a bother to travel he actually would rather not go back. im not saying he loves america more then his home but its growing on him.

as for eid....get ur butt ready to party with ur husband and his family. invite the whole crowd and have a big dinner. when its time to clean up..ull realise how much work that was and wont miss doing that again.

I am about to cry in here! :crying:(L):crying:(F)

Let me tell you why this is effecting me in an indirect kinda way.

If you've read my other posts, you will know that my husband isnt even here yet. One thing I know he will have a lot of support from me, plus two of his sisters are here and quite a few cousins.

I went to work today and I had been calling and calling my sister-in-law to see if her sister (my other sister in law) made it to pick her up for the Eid celebration. Instead my uncle dropped her off. He was not supporting her at all! I was so mad about that. Mind, we are muslim, but I haven't really been into Islam like I was when my mother was living. Yes, I kinda fell off! :(

Anyway, she said that my uncle was leaving her, he wasnt introducing her to any of his friends, he left her with the baby and disappeared, she found him and asked for the camera cuz there was a puppet show or somethng for the kids and he wouldn't give her the camera.... Isn't there some type of payment or donation you have to give at Eid?? He didnt want to make the payment and she told him months ago to prepare for this day. I hope I am not offending anyone if I am using the wrong terminology. My husbnad will get me back on track when he comes here Incha Allah.

They went to "the Night of Power" and he didnt want to stay, I was watching the baby bcuz she wanted to stay till like 430 in the morning. He promised they could stay, but they came home way b4 midnight, she was pissed.! skyooz my french!

So I guess my point is I can understand that some of you miss your homes a great deal and all I can do for my husband when he gets here is support him in everyway that I can. Im glad that we talked about a lot of things first. He isnt opposed to me having a Christmas tree, If I want one. Sometimes I have a tree, sometimes I dont. It depends on what my finances are looking like... this year.. probably not!

I wasnt raised on Christmas. I do it for m daughter and me too, cuz I like to make her happy. Its nothing worse than going to school after a christmas break and have to write a report on what your christmas break was like and have to turn in a blank sheet of paper. I dont do it for religous purposes, the atmosphere that was mentioned in the previous replies... thats what I am referring to. I do for that reason as well.

Support is soooooo important. Whether you are giving it or receiving it.

I hope you can find a happy place here in America OP, not implying that you arent happy with you rhusband or anything. You just made me feel for you a little deeper than I was expecting bci\uz I had this conversation with my sister in law today. She mentioned wanting to go home.

Yeah my uncle sucks tremendously, I can't have my husband feeling that way aboput me or talking about me the way my sister in law talks about my uncle. (for the record.. if anyone is confused.... there is no blood relation to my husband. Siter in lawe married my uncle and introduced me to her brother... it was love at first chat! ;) ) (L)(F)

Pray with me Forrest! Dear God, make me a bird so I can fly far. Far, far away from here..... Dear God, make me a bird so I can fly far. Far, far away from here!

I dont understand why you can just celebrate home with your husband. you knew you were comming to america or did you forget? when I lived overseas. I celebrated my tradtions- 4th of july . thats what marrying international is all about. so instead of pouting.. make your feast.

Feast for me was just another day. I have no other muslims around me. There were no programs or visitors or gifts or food. But I sat with myself and held the spirit inside. I understand the missing of what was familiar, but sometimes Allah puts us in an uncomfortable situation to see what we're really made of or to remind what is truly important.

Mine was just another day too. Working, eating Lean Cuisine for lunch, going home eating left overs for dinner, going to bed. Same shitt, different day. Ahhh don't you just love the single yet married lifestyle?
