Good evening to all, i have a question, my wife will be visiting her family in Costa Rica, she has done this multiple times since she was gotten her Green card, the flight will be for 10 day and she is leaving on September 28 and returning on October 7, he Green card is set to expire on December 14, 2012, will she have any kind of problem either leaving or re-entering the United States?

any help will be appreciated thank you

She is re-entering before her GC expires. What could be the problem?

im not sure, that why i was asking, i friend of mine flew to argentina and his passport was expiring three months after he returned and they didnt let him leave the US, i was just curios and safe. Dont want to get a call saying she has to say in CR lol

Requirements for International Travel

  • U.S. citizens are required to have a passport for international travel which is used for gaining entry to another country and reentry into the United States. In addition, all countries have requirements for traveling within their borders. These requirements can range from obtaining a specific visa to having stipulations on the U.S. passport.

Method of Counting

  • "Six months" is not the same in each country. Some nations count the expiration date as six months from the date of entry into their country, while others use the scheduled departure date as the six-month marker. Brazil, Israel, Malaysia and Indonesia use six months from the date of entry; Paraguay, Romania, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands use six months from date of departure.
