Hi

I sent last week pkt 3 to the NVC with all the documents needed. I lived in Israel for some time so I had requested for an Israeli police certificate from the Israeli embassy in Canberra.

Turns out the Israeli embassy won't hand me the certificate but they will send it to the US consulate in Sydney.

So what I did in packet 3's cover letter is mentioning this and I even attached an e-mail from the Israel consulate saying that they already have my police Certificate.

So today I received from the NVC a cover letter checklist asking for the Israeli police clearence.....I called the NVC straight away so I can explain that the police clearence will be sent to the US consulate as I already mentioned in packet 3's cover letter. They said that yes, they know and the case is now closed and paper work has been sent to the US consulate in Sydney so they can invite me for an interview.

My question is - weren't they supposed to send me an e-mail stating that my case is closed? has anyone experienced anything similar?

Thanks

As far as I know--at least in my experience with our IR-1/CR-1 case, we did not receive an email or any other notice of case complete. I found out because I was calling daily. We did receive an email informing us that our interview date had been scheduled, and enclosed was the Packet 4.

I don't live in Australia with my husband, so things may be happening differently for you.

Thanks for your answer! do you think that because my husband lives with me in Australia it changes the situation?

From what I understand, in such cases the process moves more quickly. Perhaps that means that there are some differences in procedures, who does what, what sort of notice they give, etc. I'm afraid I just don't know, as I can only speak from my experience.

It's a sort of informal survey for cases in which the US citizen is living abroad. The folks there might have good information for you.

Good luck!
