Hello everyone!!!!

My fiance and I are now in process for our interview. I know that I need to sign an Affidavit of Support. Some people tell me that is the form I-134, but when we received our instructions it said that I need to file a form I-864. Is that normal? Should I be worried????

It appears that in some consulates, they ask for the I-864. There was a thread within the last 2 days from a Canadian asking the same question. I looked at the link to the Canadian consulate and indeed it states K1 needs to send I-864 (instead of I-134).

I would send them what they ask for. If you are a very cautious person, you can also additionally send your fiance a completed I-134 to have for a back-up. (Unless someone who has dealt with this specific situation and states differently). They both essentially have the same information on them.

Good luck

To be safe, just have both completed. Many people never have there's checked during the interview. Generally the I-134 is used for the K1 visa. The I-864 is used for Adjustment of Status when you apply for the Green Card following marriage.

K1 Visa Process -> 12/09-06/10 Married -> 09/10/10 AOS Process -> 09/10-12/10 Removal of Conditions-> 09/12-07/13

U.S. Naturalization -> 7/8/20

I filled out both the I-134 and the I-864, and I was surprised that the CO asked me for my affidavit of support during the interview, since regularly the I-134 is what they require, that's what I handed to him along with my last 3 years W2s. I had my last 3 year tax returns also but I didn't want to give him all that and kind of overwhelm him.. so I say be prepared and have everything in hand because you never know if they will ask you for it and you also want to make it easy for them to look at. :star:
