I-864 vs I-864A

Hi everyone,

I´ve been searching for a clear response to this and have found some info, but I want to play it safe and post my specific situation for people to comment on.

I live in Mexico with my wife and children. I´ve lived here for 6 years. My I-130 for my wife and I-130 for my adopted son (he´s 6 years old) have been approved and I have been given the green light to make the interview appointment.

We are going to live my mother in the US. This is the US address that I listed on the I-130 forms. My question regards the Affidavit of Support.

I will be arriving to the US with no job lined up and no income. My mother will be the co-sponsor.

I understand that as the petitioner, I still must fill out the I-864 as the sponsor, but does my mother file a separate I-864 as well or does she fill out the I-864A? I have the impression that the latter would be the case if I currently lived with my mother, which is not the case. But... we will be living with her once we arrive!

I believe that I should file two separate I-864 forms for my wife and son and that my mother should do the same. Can anyone confirm this or am I missing something?

I had the same question, the petitioner should fill anyway the I-864? or only the person who will be the sponsor?
