yikes i hope that guy CANCEL his petition if not i heard it will be a problem because the case is still open or pending somewhere in the USCIS system.

if she still has contact for that ex's fiance better send him a letter/text or call and ask him if he ever cancel it. goodluck

The longer it takes to happen the more you'll appreciate it when it does!

My fiance was engaged a couple years ago to a guy from the US. He filed for a K-1 and then backed out on her before the process was completed. Seems he had some serious financial issues and decided not to pursue the visa. I became engaged to her this past June and filed for the K-1 after returning home from a wonderful visit with her in the Philippines. My question is: will her ex-fiance's petition cause any problems with us being able to get approved for ours? Thank you for any thoughts or advice on this matter

It will be a problem if the guy did not cancel his petition to your fiance. I have read same issue as yours and they got denied.

to add some additional information and to clarify, her ex petitioned over 1 1/2 years ago. The most info I can garnish is that my fiance never received any correspondence from the embassy or anyone else. This is my first ever petition. Her ex was not clear with her about the point at which he abandoned the process or if he ever even formally cancelled it but she believes he just dropped it. Is it worth it to try and call the CSC to see if there is anything I can or need to do? Thoughts?

best route marry her and file cr1

I still think you can and should apply for the K-1 visa (if you are inclined to get married now, then do so and go the CR1 route.) If you have doubts you can try calling USCIS to explain the situation and see what they say. You can also try contacting the ex to see where in the process they were. In any case, I don't think her previous application will jeopardize your application now. As I said before, it will complicate things a little-- longer than normal processing times and greater scrutiny-- but I don't think that should preclude you from trying and suceeding.
