I am planning to have my wife's POE at Houston (IAH) or Dallas (DFW) airport. She will come here on CR1 visa category. If you or someone in family had a recent first POE at any of these two airports, please share your experience.

NOTE: I already read VJ POE reviews for both airports and seems low in difficulty. But I would like to hear Indian immigrants POE experience at these two airports.

There is nothing to worry, you can use either POE Houston or Dallas both are same.

Just dont ask her to get any of the prohibited food items, both POEs are very well aware of the food items we try to bring.

how much time do these two airports take for POE? what kinda prohibited food items are you indicating?

I have done few non-POE USC immigration entry at Dallas and was out of the airport in 30 minutes each time. But POE is a totally different ball game.

We just got our K1 Visa approved an hour back and my fiance's POE will be Houston. I'll update with a review of that in a couple days.

My POE was also Houston about 10 years ago but I was a dependent to my parents who had a business in Houston - it was straightforward and easy back then. Since then, I've been through Houston airport customs at least 7 times, and it was almost always uneventful except for one time where my bags were opened up and the officer questioned some food articles that my grandma had packed for me.

I have done POE at various airport, DFW was like 20-25 mins and I was thru.

The time varies on how many international flights have landed at same time.

Prohibited items like organic food or Mangoes which are not allowed, Dallas is very strict about the food items.

I have been in and out multiple time and had marked I had no food item, yet they pulled me up for food items inspection there was nothing I had that was not allowed and they let me go.

Dallas is well known being strict on bringing food items and they know we Indians love food and we try to smuggle food in..

Thanks! I believe you are referring to your non first POE experience, whereas first POE is not the same in terms of immigration hassle. I am not concerned about food items since there is no food item I like and left in India which I cannot buy here in USA. I am surprised that you had POE (not first POE) issues at DFW because my experience has always been pleasant and never got pulled over to open my bags at the international terminal.
