Guys, when filling out the affidavit of support, am I to ensure and her information do I enter in her Married last name correct and for any other forms moving foward. She will be changing her passport along with her Cedula to reflect that she is married. Will this cause any friction whatsoever? Another question is regading the dependent questions in the form. I live by myself however i do have 2 children in which i pay my monthly child support to. Would they be considered as dependents?

Thank you in advance!!

The name should be the same as it appears on the petition and the passport.

Your minor children are included in your household count no matter where they live.

I would suggest to hold of on the name change unless is different then the one used on the petition and her passport... It can be very confusing at this stage, so if you used her maiden name in the petition and all her other documents are in her maiden name continue to use that name. As for the dependent yes you must add them on there as they depend on your income....

Ok I understand in regards to the Minor Children. Now regarding when you mentioned the Petition and the passport, just so i can be Crystal clear, are you refering that we dont need to have her passport changed? and when you metioned petition it is the I-130? so in closing, do we HAVE to change her name in her passport? wouldnt that bring any issues in the NVC stage?

Again, I thank you and appreciate you assistance..

The name that winds up on the visa needs to match the name on the passport.

From the IRS (Tax) perspective, the children not living in the same house, when they are in another household are not dependents. I assume those are children from a former marriage/divorce
