I take it that you're just being sarcastic?

Jamaican women aren't much different from other women around the world. You'll find diversity just the same like every where else. You can say the same for the men. I always despise the comments I often see about Jamaican men, being one myself. I certainly know I don't fit in with the stereotype of being controlling and insensitive. I certainly don't think culture has anything to do with a person's character. That has to do with ones upbringing; and everyone is not raised the same. Even so it's not circumstances, upbringing or culture that makes you who you are, but the choice you make of whether to become a better person or not.

Marlon, I for one ignore stupidity, and some of these posts fall within that range but when people put their personal business on the public internet they are subject to all coments.

Atleast you are smart enough to understand what i meant by not African but since they want to go back to history, that is their problem.

All the best to the poster on her situation. I wish her the best and hope everything works out for her.

Thank you.

Here I was assuming that all those persons mentioning 'AFRICA' misread her post. :innocent:

Yes, it's a little Sarcasm, but there is a diferent personality with Jamaicans, russianS, colombians, or anyplace.. All have thier inherent culturally influenced components of thier personalities..

To say culture has nothing to do with it; is naive..
It's good when someone can put all the years of local culture and enfluence aside and make their own descisions, but it's not typical.. You can be from Los Angeles, California or Laredo, Texas, growing up anyplace will absoulutely enfluence your behaivior, and your reasoning...

What does culture have to do with someone being a jerk or an azz. There was nothing that this young lady printed that was cultural.

You dont get out much do you..

Absolutely was cultural.. it may not be ancient culture, but certainly comes from someplace..

I absolutely would NOT condone it regardless of the source, but you dont need a masters degree to assess that..

But, sorry to dis-agree, but you're wrong...

The same reason why some foreign men see American women as mouthy b*tches. Exposure to a different culture will have you think that someone is a jerk or bossy or possessive or having no respect. Your environment has a lot to do with your personality development but that still doesn't give an excuse to be disrespectful or nasty.

so are u implying that her man is a jerk or azz? I know that u r jamaican but u dont know either of these persons. r u just referencing that comment based on the post by the OP?

My Jamaican man and his entire community where he lives scribes to that same philosophy. That he -- is the man and I as the woman is an extension of him . . that is how most folks in the mountains of Jamaica feels at least the ones that live in St. Ann Parish. The folks there did not care to know my name just that I am Brooks' woman . . . and actually sometimes he even called me that - "woman, where are u at" .....and still does.

That being said - my man - cause he was raised with this philosophy is not a jerk or an azz . . He has never been off the island . . . neither have any of his immediate folks/friends . . . As I stated in my earlier post his position can be refreshing at times and challenging at others . . .Just depends on what the USC can deal with . . .

Jamaica is a very poor society and there is NO question that Jamaica culture is far different from USA culture -----like nite and day.

WHAT A HOT TOPIC!!!! :star:

She was not referring to the OP's fiancé as such, but merely conveying the point that you can find such people in every culture. It was more her responding to a running discussion which had started several pages back about people from certain cultures having specific flawed characteristics.

I comment was not referencing to any culture, it was made in reference to the individual just acting as an azz in coments that were made by the OP. It doesn't matter what their race or culture is, there are better ways to have the conversation that he was having with the OP.

Because the country is a developing country doesn't mean that everyone living in Jamaica is poor.

Again thank you Marlon, now down to serious business, if the OP was hurt and distraught by her finance behavior, why is their picture as a couple still part of her profile. She blasted him out on a public board with picture and all, is this a person who is seriously looking out for her relationship.

Would I ever come on public board and blast my husband out... HEXX NO. I also believe that alot of his comments were taken out of context, sometime things said in a heated argument are not said as they are meant.

How about men who sleep with many women...Cultural? Or not?
Completely unacceptable by US Standards.. And by mine as well, but I wonder if some cultures find it acceptable..

My first realy culture shock experience was when I was in Colombia one evening returning to the hotel with a group and noticed a man hitting a Woman.. We are not going to sit still and let a guy beat up a woman. but... We had a local guy walking with us who told us if we interfered, we could be in trouble.. Seriously? we didnt know what kind of trouble he meant, but, being on foreign soil limits our rights so we simply made sure the guy knew there were 6 guys watch him.. He stopped hitting her. But the point is; Cultural.. I know many Colombian woman who chose to remain single rather than tolerate that type of treatment, but there are those that live with it hoping for bettter..

Cultural? Or not?

Did you just asked this question, so you are trying to tell me American men don't sleep with alot of different women. That was a joke right.
