Today after work I will have to pick up phone cards so Mohammed can call all his family tonight. Kelly, what is your favorite card from Chicago to Jordan? We have had good luck with Spirit.

I think I will make the kanafa tonight so he can see me hard at work.

Egypt hasn't officially declared anything yet that I've seen. Here's the list of countries that have declared already.

02/23/08 - Filed for removal of conditions.

Sometime in 2008 - Received 10 year GC. Almost done with USCIS for life inshaAllah! Huzzah!

12/07/08 - Adopted the fuzzy feline love of my life, my Squeaky baby th_catcrazy.gif

02/23/09 - Apply for citizenship

06/15/09 - Citizenship interview

07/15/09 - Citizenship ceremony. Alhamdulilah, the US now has another american muslim!

Aren't they #10 on the list? If so I think it's Monday then since they started the day after the Saudi's started.

Hamid told me today would be the last day yesterday, and then TODAY said, "whoops, it's actually Monday." Grrh... Way to get my hopes hope! (I've been following Morocco since all my Muslim friends here couldn't really come with a consensus as to when to start)

timeline doesn't matter.

Amal - thats quite an avatar.

Today I am lazy. I have been awake since almost 3, but just laid in bed watching vh-1. Like I'm in a coma. That orientation yesterday wasn't too bad. Everyone I saw yesterday in Khaki pants had ugly shoes on so that was cool. I start working now on tuesday. Looks like I missed a lot yesterday so I will be catching up for a while. Big day here

I forgot to say yesterday. I rarely wear Khaki pants but when I do, any color shoe goes with them. I really like the way beige goes with them. However my pants are usually so long that you can only see a tiny bit of my shoe peeking out. :star:

Ok I used to use those phonecards and they were insanely expensive and not worth it. I started using g-phone. Its like a calling card but they only bill you for the minutes you use and you set the limit of the card and they deduct it at the end of the month. The phone calls are so much clearer than with normal phone cards. www.gphone.com

Oh, sorry for the erroneous statement . . . Maybe he just jumped the gun to wish me "Happy Feast!!" to be sure that he got it said on time ???:P It is almost Monday there now :D .

oh my gosh too funny the conversation i just had with my mom...who up until now has not talked to me about any of my life other than to ask how the kids are doing.

mom: "I want to ask you some questions."

me: "ok"

mom: "are you going to blow us up?"

me: "huh??????"

mom: "well that's how it works you know...they recruit you and then tell you to blow us all up"

me: "nope."...then I went on about how that's a handful of people and if people here would bother to look beyond Fox News and CNN they'd find out that those are nutcases and that the top scholars in Islam have renounced the violence.

mom: "are you going to live in Egypt and take the kids with you?"

me: "NO!!! That's one of our agreements is that we live here until the kids are all grown"

mom: "doesn't it bother you that he is not able to come here?"

me: "nope. it's impossible to come here on a visitor's visa"

mom: "but those planes are all jam packed full of people going in and out!!"

me: "yes with tourists and EGyptians with visas."

mom: "are the kids going to remain Catholic?"

me: "yes. they are too old for me to make them change. they can choose once they get older if they want to be different."

mom: "phew. now I can sleep at night."

This was actually a very nice conversation. lol. Very promising and at least she's talking about it without wailing and saying that she is gonna miss me when I die.

on another note...im soooo excited abotu my holidays coming....thanksgiving is the 24th right? then my bday is the 28th of Nov....then xmas shopping the whole month, then xmas and new years will be here before i know it...sofyan is very excited to see what xmas is like here...although he wont be celebrating the religious aspect of it. i think he will really enjoy all the lights, festivities, snow, family, food, endless amounts of gifts, etc...seeing how i was in jordan for all this last year, i really cant wait :)

hope everyone has a blessed Eid...
