My Immigration Interview @ Phoenix

Hi Everyone,

I haven't posted in awhile but I had a moment and I wanted to share.

We arrived 10 mins early for our 7:15 am appointment in dwtn Phoenix. (parking is 2 dollars).

We went through security, and then were told to drop off our notice in a slot located in a door on the second floor.

It was no more than 2 minutes and we were called. There was a web camera taping us, so don't be shy - be yourself.

He asked us a few questions (none really stuck out, but the obvious ones are listed on your I-485 form).

At one point he bluntly asked "so this marriage is legitimate"? I looked at my husband and said, "if it weren't I'm sure we wouldn't fight so much!"

We gave him a new Affidavit of Support (my husband had a new job) and he asked for documentation showing our proof of relationship. We used our lease agreement, a car title, insurance bills, bank statements and insurance statements showing the ins company was paying for a service we had used under each other's ins companies. He didn't ask to see any pictures...! I had two albums!

He was very professional but I'm sure he's done this for many years. Basically if you're genuinely married you would know the answers to his questions. He won't ask any vague questions and none of the questions he asked us were very personal. Try and be comfortable.

Also, my medical was 1 year and 2 days old but he didn't request a new one bc USCIS was extending the validity of a medical so long as it was "in the works".

Overall it was a relaxing (although you can't help but be stressed) experience. My one advice is, if you're from Italy, France or Canada make sure you have a long form birth certificate so you don't have to go back! (Long form is a BC that has your parent's information like birth date and birth place).

This is my opinion, but I don't think he was listening to the answer of your question as much as he was observing the way you answered and how you interacted with your spouse.

If it's a fake marriage you could know everything about each other but you don't have the relationship dynamics. Be comfortable with each other, because if you truly love each other, it'll show.

Hopefully I'll be home to see my family for Christmas this year. It's been much too long.

Congratulations! I'm very happy for both of you! My interview is coming up this next Friday and I'm a little anxious, although I believe everything is going to be just fine. Thank you for your post, it realy encourages us that have still to prepare for the big day! We wish the best to you and your spouse!
