1) For letter of intent: If I, the petitioner, draft the letter of intent for my fiance and print it out, explain what it says in her language, and then she signs it... will this be okay? Or is the interviewer 6 months later going to say, "Hmm, but your English isn't very good... How did you write that letter of intent?" ?

2) For the proof of relations: I have confirmations of a hotel booking in her country in our name... I was able to get the owner of a hotel we stayed at to confirm to me through e-mail that we stayed there and during what dates... We have tons of photos together... We have e-tickets/online confirmations for tickets of me going to her country as well as her flying within her country to a different city where we spent time. Besides that, we obviously have numerous Facebook chats, I can show numerous Skype calls to her country, and I can show documentation that I have sent money to her in the past through Western Union. I am 100% sure this will establish our relationship as genuine. What we don't have are dated photographs, nor do we have stubs proving we actually boarded any of the flights, so in the most technical sense, I guess we don't have "hard" proof that have actually seen each other the past 2 years... Do you think we will still be fine?

If not, my next ideas are: a) My passport entry and exit stamp for her country correspond to our e-tickets, so this should prove I did actually make the trip and b) Her mom could sign an affidavit stating that I had indeed been with my fiance and in their house within the past year.

Overall thoughts? Thanks!

If you haven't read yet... read here over and over until you have mastered the subject. K1 instructions

Hopefully someone can answer the language barrier for the letter of intent.

I will give you a headstart, but please read the instructions of every form you fill out and the K1 guide that I gave you link to.

You must prove you have met face to face within last 2 years. This is proved by a couple of ways, first there is primary evidence.

Boarding passes, passport stamps, hotel receipts prove you were there within last 2 years.

Now comes the secondary evidence that corroborates the primary evidence.

Pictures of you two together with dates and location written on the back. Show you 2 physically in the same place.

This fulfills the I-129F requirement of meeting in person within the last 2 years..

Now for the ongoing relationship. This is separate from the requirement of meeting face to face within last 2 years. It is not required for the I-129F, but many add it into the application so that when the consulate in the beneficiary's country receives it, the documents are already in the packet. The link I gave you explains documentation of ongoing relationship.

Follow the guide.. Step 1-14

Read the instructions for each form you fill out.

If you do all of this, you should be fine.

Then, kick back and wait for about 6-7 months for approval of your petition. To kill that time, read over all you have to send your fiance once your petition is approved so they may file the K1 appropriately.

Its almost okey, what was your question anyway is it about the letter of intent to marry? Well what you did is fine coz its a required form needed by the USCIS, about the the proof of relationships its almost okey, you dont have to tell her mom to make an affidavit that you get there by that time.

So basically, to establish that I have actually been with her in her country within the past two years, the only hard evidence I have is:

1. Passport stamped into and out of her country twice within past 2 years

2. I did find one messy receipt from one of the hotels there, with my name, date and amount paid on it. I can also print out the reservation confirmation I had received via email for this.

For stupid reasons, I chose to throw away everything else. Boarding passes, receipt from other hotels, everything... And as I said, in terms of supporting material, such as photos together, reservation confirmation emails, e-tickets, e-mails from hotels stating we had stayed there, we have plenty of all of that stuff. We just don't have much "hard evidence" to establish time and place.

Do you think this will be enough? One other option we have is for me to visit briefly in September, keep all our receipts and airline stubs and then this would take care of the problem... But I would rather not pay the extra money right now just for this.

Ooh, and what about printing out my bank statement where it shows charges on my credit card made in Colombia? Although I suppose this wouldn't really prove I was there...

Advice?
