Pkt 3, what to post to the embassy?

I received my pkt 3 and the following instruction has me a little confused:

"1. Complete and return immediately to this office the form DS-230, Immigrant Visa Application Part I, Biographic Data. We cannot process your case until this form is received."

followed by:

"3. When you have obtained all of the documents required for your case, complete and mail all of your documents (do not fax or scan) with DSL-1076 to advise the U.S. Consulate General in Sydney that you are ready for your final visa."

Should I send the DS-230 by itself first and then post further documents later?

Do I need to post all of my supporting documentation to the embassy ahead of the interview, or do I just submit the forms and take the supporting documents with me?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Do you have the police certificate, medical etc ready? If you do you can send them everything on the list right now along with DS230. If you don't have everything on the list yet, send the DS230 now and send the DS1076 and all the rest later as a package.

You don't take the supporting documents with you to the interview. You have to send them everything on the list before the interview, along with the forms. The only things you will take to the interview are your passport, Aus Post receipt and the interview letter (if there is anything else missing they should tell you to bring it).

At least that was the way it was in August last year.
