All Filipino emigrants leaving the country to settle abroad permanently are required by law to register with CFO. No one is exempted from pre-departure registration.

But the following are not required to attend the pre-departure orientation seminar and to be personally present during the registration (they can also be registered by proxy):

* Minors 12 years old and below

* Senior citizens 60 years old and above

* Those with mental illness or psychiatric disability, and incapacitated due to permanent or long-term ailments

In my case I have to tag along my 7y/o girl cuz don't have choice, don't have anybody to look for her, were from Iloilo and will fly to Manila for medical, CFO and Interview. but she can go alone and just

bring the child's passport and maybe BC, identification card, school record just in case they need those.

Hi AlohaBabes,

Thanks for posting. I heard that the seminar can now be done in Cebu at SMEF-COW or at the CFO office itself. Do you know if that's right?

Where did you do your seminar? How long did it take and what time did you show up there to get in line? Were people turned away because the class was already full?

Are there any tips you'd give?

Thanks for any comments on the experience. :)

I read that link from AlohaBabes. It was talking about Cebu CFO seminar that was conducted 8am-12noon. However, CFO website says that sessions for CFO Cebu are done 2-5pm with only 12 slots Monday-Friday. Now I'm really concerned as to the right time. Please clarify..... Thanks

Aloha!

Before i went there i tried to call first. so i called CFO office, she ask me what seminar am I going to attend. but she gave me another number which is the SMEF-COW. so i call the smef cow office. I ask what time are they going to have the fiance seminar for the US. and I ask if should i bring my son who is 9 yo.. HE told me it will start at 2pm but be there early and that i dont need to bring my son..

their office is just in front of San Carlos Boys High. Mango ave.. just beside cheery court blg.. 3rd floor..

I arrive at SMEF Cow at 1pm.. there are already people outside, so i get inside the office theres no line.. I told the guy, I will attend the US seminar. So he ask about my passport photocopy front and back. cenomar. my fiance's passport photocopy. NBI clearance photocopy.. Just Photocopy all the requirements. but just bring all originals too..

take note:

if your fiance is single. better bring the income tax return and photocopy the 1040's. it will show there his status which is single..

bring divorce degree.

Bring everything, documents that will show his status as single or divorce, etc.

PS: when you pay for the fee 250.00. always count your change.. the guy in there is not so careful.

I ask Him if theres a limit for the seminar.. He said no limit.. I am on number 20..

The seminar and the counseling only lasted for 2 hours for me.. it may be different for you..
