Since the Saudi police report is not available to you, no worries. The Dept. of State knows it's not available.

For periods of unemployment, indicate unemployed and the dates. If you were a student until 2005, indicate that as well. Just enter Previously Student, College, City, Country from Month Year to Month Year.

Question 17 is for your wife/Petitioner's occupation (whats your wifes occupation?)

Question 32 is yours/beneficiary's Occupation (if you are unemployed put NA)

there might be someone out there who can correct me if I am wrong....I also have to file DS 230.

employed or not, it has nothing to do with your chance of getting the visa, the most important thing is being honest on the form and be honest to yourself

Do you have a co-sponsor lined up. Un-employment to qualify for can be a sticky thing because its temporary.

As the beneficiary it doesn't matter whatsoever if you're employed or not. Most beneficiaries have to quit their jobs anyways before leaving for the US. They know this.

I was unemployed during our case, and obviously had no problems.

The only person's employment that actually matters is the petitioner's.

Q17 - is about your spouse occupation ( your wife ).

Q32 - Just mention list of employer where you have worked in the past.

Since you are a beneficiary and unemployed, it may not be issue for visa, but this is most common question that they ask at the time of interview.

Two duplicate posts and one related post have been merged into one thread. It is not necessary to post the same question more than once nor to ask for the same information again.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Correct except if unemployed, answer unemployed. N/A means not applicable. The question IS applicable and the answer is unemployed.

Q32 - Just mention list of employer where you have worked in the past.

just answer this question truthfully and to the best of your knowledge. Do not lie.

Where do you see the lie?

If you take a look for form DS-230 , Q32, it is asking the list of work history for last 10 yrs. Like the OP mentioned that he is being unemployed for last 1 yr, thats mean he has worked in the past. This is simple to understand.
