Hello all!

I am about to send out the I-129f (excited!) but I had one last question. I have plenty of evidence of having met my fiancee (pictures, passport stamps, itineraries), but what kind of proof they need to prove it is an ONGOING relationship. I included my itinerary for my next trip to Peru (which will be tomorrow), surely this should be sufficient no?

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know :)

It couldn't hurt to include call records, but the stuff you have with the visits and pictures sounds pretty good, also make sure to include pics with family members.

You can follow the K-1 Visa guide,

http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

In regard to your question, see the section in the guide,

"The following items will not typically show proof of having met in the last two years however will show proof of an ongoing relationship: Copies of land line and cell phone bills, appropriate letters and emails, stamps on the letters (to document the date they were sent), and other written documentary proof. Provide a reasonable amount; two to four of each type. Pick a range of dates up to and including the present. You can also include a copy of engagement ring receipt (this is something that is a big optional - do not worry if you do not have a ring yet!"

Good luck, :)

Also, it is not required for I-129F petition, but rather recommended for high risk consulates.

Per Visa Journey's advice... Many high risk consulates approach cases with a skeptical eye and providing this information early on in the original I-129F package will help them in their preliminary review of your case.

By all means feel free to front load the application, but don't confuse the difference between required and recommended. When MENA consulates are involved, by all means you should do this. Also, some of the Eastern consulates are notoriously difficult.

This information will be in your petition when it is forwarded to the consulate, but does not have bearing on decision for the I-129F petition. The requirement is that you have to be legally free to marry at the time the petition is filed and that you have met face to face within last 2 years. The ongoing relationship, should it be questioned, will be at the consulate level for the K1 application once the I-129F petition is approved.

The question would be is how difficult the consulate in Lima is regarding "ongoing relationship". Lima seems to have great reviews with very little trouble as long as everything is in order. You should be fine.

Maybe someone that has gone through Lima will confirm or deny the consulate's reputation.

Good luck.

Muito obrigado!

I'll attach a copy of my phone cards and send it out then! That should be sufficient considering when my request arrives, I will be in Peru with her.

de nada..!!! Enjoy your trip. I am looking forward to my wife receiving her green card so that we can travel back to Brazil to see her family. We also have plans to go to Machu Picchu before they start drilling for natural gas there. With the recent discovery of this resource, it will not be long before the land is raped and pillaged. My wife has been there and really wants to go back. We also, want to go to Buenos Aires and go to a Tango contest. Que Otimo (lo maravilloso)..!

Best luck with your future...

¡Buena suerte

A copy of your used phone cards is just that, a copy of your used phone cards. Are there any verifiable records associated with those cards to show that you were talking to her when you were using your phone cards? Include the records, pass on including the cards.

The VJ site information previously provided gives adequate and appropriate information on what could be useful as evidence.

Good luck on your visa journey.

Thanks, both of you.

I don't have any calling records specifically. We usually communicate by skype videochat and phone cards (which I fortunately still have) Do you think if I scan all my used phone cards that will be helpful?

You can use Skype Logs Viewer to print out your Skype sessions.

You can also use screen capture your video chat sessions with your fiance(e) and print them out.

Glad you mentioned this, we actually did have Skype log and several screen capture showing us face to face. Fortunately, we did not need them, but we had them just in case. I had forgotten about that.headbonk.gif

Once again, recommended for the high fraud consulates as it becomes a part of the petition, but not "required" for the I-129F. Feel free to add it to your package, but don't confuse recommended with required. It depends on where the petition will be sent. (i.e. people filing with Lagos consulate routinely front load their petition with tons of evidence as it is an extremely difficult consulate)

Read the Instructions, don't add to them. 2 forms mandatory, one optional. There are 14 steps in the checklist.

Nowhere on the I-129F instructions does it request that you prove ongoing relationship.

I always recommend including as much evidence in support of a bonafide ongoing relationship as possible. This is because the Consular Officers are not trained to give you the benefit of the doubt. In fact, this is quite the contrary. They are trained to assume your relationship is fraudulent and to look for holes in your evidence that support this assumption, basically until you've given them no recourse but to find the relationship "bonafide". Therefore, the onus is on you as a couple to show the CO beyond any shadow of a doubt that you are in fact a legitimate couple. Although providing proof of an itinerary is a start, it's by no means going to blow the CO away with confidence in your relationship. I've seen people get denied with much more evidence than that. So I suggest gathering as much proof of interaction and of relationship as you can possibly muster. If you don't have any then maybe you ought to consider spending the time to compile some before filing... best of luck!

you can copy and paste your skype records and send them in with it... they will need a lot of proff... our packet had like 300 sheets of paper in it hehe... phone records, skype records, pictures, cards sent back and forth, a letter from your family members approving your engagement, we got a letter from our pastor saying we were getting married at our church.

good luck

300 pages is just ridiculous and they will never look at all 300 pages.

It would be better to show several pages over a time period. Or maybe even one a week. It is ok to take that much with you to the interview, but why weigh your petition down like that.

Also, 30 pictures from the same day does not give additional credence versus 2 pictures from the same day. I can take 50 pictures in a matter of minutes. That doesn't prove I have an ongoing relation. I have 20 pictures spread out over time and a long term picture begins to appear.

Also, please understand that I am not telling anyone that they CAN"T add 300 pages to the I-129F petition. I have been trying to show that it is not REQUIRED for the approval of the I-129F petition!!!! Frontloading a petition is typically done for high fraud consulates. It is not everywhere and all the time.

I've seen people get denied with much more evidence than that.

They usually have other problems related to their application or in an extremely difficult consulate. Additionally, an itinerary is just that, an itinerary, a planned journey or route. Doesn't prove anything. Itineraries with receipts from the hotel, boarding passes from the flight, entry stamps into your passport, now these actually prove something.

To the OP: You will be fine. Hope your flight to Peru goes well.!!!
