Hello,

I have a question to anyone who is married to a Dominican and that may be going through the same process me and my husband are. I am wondering how long the wait time and is the process lengthy? I am getting such a migrane it´s just so confusing and i am a perfectionist and I just do not want to forget a document or make a mistake before I send the forms in. Can someone please explain just a little bit more why the K3 is now not a good idea to do? I am pregnant and I would really like to have my husband here with me. Well I hope I did not confuse anyone. I am sorry if I did. Any help would be apperciated. Thank You So Much!

Hi,

A couple of things for anyone joining VJ, first, please create and update your timeline since this is used for estimation of adjudication/approval dates (this will help you know when you are expected to be approved based on when you get NOA1).

second, please take a look at the section marked guides, there are some great step by step instructions on how to build your CR1 (I130) package. http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1

The K3 is not used anymore because it takes around 7-9 months from NOA1 to NOA2, and since the CR1 even in the slowest service center which is VSC (vermont) is still less than 6 months. The most recent cases of K3 I have seen people here file get approved along side the CR1 so you really dont need the K3. Hope that clarifies it a little.

Right now the most important thing is to put together your I130 and send it in to get your NOA1 and basically be assigned a place in line. Please be sure to update your timeline once you begin to reach all these milestones, it helps all of the VJ memebers here.

PS - NOA is notice of action, NOA1 is the acceptance of your application/fees/documents and it will include your PD (priority date). NOA2 is the approval.

K-3 is obsolete so you will want to go with CR-1. It's not even worth trying to understand why anyone is not using it anymore *unless you want to have more of a migraine* :whistle:

My husband just came in mid May with the CR-1, and there are plenty of DR members who finished recently or currently going through it, so feel free to ask lots of questions. My advice is look around on this website (has great resources) and try to understand as much as you can. It's good to have some knowledge before you just say "so what do I need to do"? :yes: :yes:

well the K-3 is still being used just incase for any reason the process takes longer than usual it acts as a speed up process. It is free so why not just fill it out it gets attached to your I130 anyway if they approve that I130 they approve the K3 at the same time but I have seen cases that the K3 is approved first and after his POE he goes for an ajustment of status he/she does not have to come back to the country for any reason so it is a no extra charge process and with tghe US agency you never know what can happen so why not just do it
