My wife entered the U.S. on a K-1 visa and we recently got married. Filing for AOS is somewhat confusing. After reading that an I-693A is needed, my wife contends that she was never told she needed one at interview or medical exam in the Ukraine. She does have a booklet from her birth with vacs but all in Russian. So are records needed? Also since it does take some time to get AOS, is it in my best interest to file I-765 so she can work earlier while I-485 is processed.......or is a waste of another $200? Thanks for your help!

hi there

when your wife had her medical did she have to produce her vaccination records to the doctor..and did the doctor fill out the form to be given to the embassey at her interview...

if she didnt get a copy of this vaccination sheet she will have to go to a medical examiner which is approved by the USCIS to get the I-693A filled out..also if it is in Russian you will have to get it translated for the doctor..

your main priority is to change her status...

hopefully someone else might be able to give you more advice too

good luck

Your wife wouldnt of been told that she needed the I693a at interview but if you have a read through alot of the posts on here regarding the medical you could be asked for it at the AOS interview or get an RFE before then. This is done by a civil surgeon here in the States.

you could just try to send the paperwork in without it but it might hold things up when they check for correct papers.. depends whether or not you want to take the risk.

just make sure that the doctor of choice in your area is aware that a full medical is NOT required just the vaccination supplement... about your wifes booklet in russian.. I would ask the doctor whether she needs to bring a translator with her, or whther she can translate it for the doctor... also if she has a copy of her vaccinations form that was originally supplied with her medical take that with her as well...

they just want to make sure that everyone has all the shots!

My wife was never given any records on vaccinations from her medical in Kiev. According to this website, I need her vaccination card and take them to civil surgeon with supplement form I-693A. I can only find I-693 (complete medical) which is not needed. USCIS just told me to contact civil surgeon where medical was done to get records but I am skeptical that they will know what I am talking about and the time it may take to get from the Ukraine could take a couple weeks. I was going to go to a civil surgeon with her vaccination card and see if they would transfer the information to a portion of the I-693 on vaccinations. Has anybody had much luck with doing the above mentioned?
