My wife demanded the Olive Garden.
At least Olive Garden has those "buy one entree, get another half-price" coupons in various places.
Seriously though. My wife sucks at this test. There is no way she will ever pass it.
I was seriously worried, sigh man, about Mrs. T-B. However, I don't get the impression that the interviewers ask the questions about "recent people" (your Senators, representative, etc.), so maybe go lighter on those.
What is it about the ice cream? I ask if she wants some. She says no. I make my bowl and she takes it to eat just a bite and eats most of it. Do babes do this stuff to hurt us?
Negatory, man -- when they say "no," it fools their body into not adding calories to their waistline when they do eat the ice cream, see man.

Do what I do, si man: Sit with ice-cream container on lap (atop a towel or tray, for melt protection) and eat directly from it with a spoon. Cause her to get up to get her own bowl & spoon. Give her a hard time about her diet (all chicas are on perpetual diets, starve man) as she gets those things. Make her serve herself. Keep the guilt coming. If she gives you puppy-dog eyes, you can give in and let her have more, but until then, the burden is on her, si man. This is what needs to be done to keep out-of-control wives in line as regards ice cream, si man.

She mainly likes the salad and bread they serve. She eats a lot of rabbit food.

She just isn't trying to get serious about studying. She prefers to push my buttons. I hope she studies while I am gone.

I also learned the just eat from the carton of ice cream but bring an extra spoon technique.

The saying "no" theory may explain last week when I said I was going to buy us chocolate and she said "no" she don't eat chocolate. I buy me some and she ate most of it. It is nice to have that mystery cleared up.

Last week, Mrs. T-B. floored me by coming home with some ice cream. "I bought you some chocolate ice cream," she announced. We (chiefly I) finished what we had. She then busted into the new carton. I said, "Hey -- you're eating all of my ice cream." She said, "This is not your ice cream -- it's MY ice cream."

I scream, si man.

Chicas can be very territorial about ice cream.

NO, Dear; you can't have any. We gringos are very territorial about our ice cream, see man.

Actually, just the other night, I poached some of Mrs. T-B.'s ice cream (having eaten all of my own), and she was more than moderately displeased until she figured "if you can't beat them, join them," slurrrrrrp man.

I tried Brother Darnell's suggestion, telling Mrs. T-B. that there would be more questions at the oath ceremony:

T-B.: "How wide is the Grand Canyon?"

Mrs. T-B.: Que?! [What?!]

T-B.: That's one of the new questions, and they can ask you any of the previous ones, too.

Mrs. T-B.: I don't believe it.

T-B.: "How many U.S. Senators are there?"

Mrs. T-B.: I don't remember.

T-B.: You don't remember?

Mrs. T-B.: There's a 3-day shelf life for those answers.

T-B.: You forgot ALL of them already?

Mrs. T-B.: I think so.

T-B.: "Who is Perry Ellis?"

Mrs. T-B.: One of the signers of the Constitution of Dependence.

Oh -- this, just the other day:

Mrs. T-B.: I've figured out what's next: Get fat, watch novelas [spanish-language soap operas], and ask my husband for money.

T-B.: You do that now. [ducks to avoid can of cling peaches whizzing past ear]

T-B.: All this time and money, and I could have married a gringa in the first place?

Mrs. T-B.: I have it all figured out.

Bless you and your lovely wife Mr. T-B. :)
Thank you, si man. As with other Ecuatoriana wives of my knowledge, she's currently extremely depressed about not being in Ecu during the holidays, and her biggest cultural shock remains the anemic partying habits of gringos -- specifically, that we attend fireworks displays on New Year's Eve and then go home when they end... at 12:10 a.m. because it's too cold outside.

Conversely, in Ecu, any party that ends before 4 a.m. is a dud, si man.

No word yet on when the oath ceremony will be, no Brother D-man.

On the bright side, we attended a Christmas Eve party at some Colombian friends' house. There was a 50-ish-year-old rubia (blonde) there who was originally from Russia. When nearly-2-year-old Mini-Bone awoke from his nap and became oriented to the strange surroundings, I told him "go hug the pretty rubia!" and he did, without hesitation. Smart boy. Daddy's boy. Appreciate those rubias, si man.

I always get somewhat of a kick out of various posts on VJ about what the petitioner's plan is for when the beneficiary finally arrives in the U.S., hee hee man. The plans are invariably "romantic dinner, bubble bath with soft bathrobe, then hours or even days of nonstop whoopee," gee man. When Mrs. T-B. arrived, she seemed somewhat dazed, if not completely out of it; on her first full day, she came down with a ferocious upper-respiratory infection with bronchitis. This was because she had attended three despedidas (going-away parties) in three Ecu cities before catching her flight to the U.S., whee man, and had not had more than a couple hours' sleep in three days, zzz man. She was quite ill for about a week, cough hack sneeze man.

Hehe, yeah, totally true. For me it's been the same but the other way around so to speak. My POE was at Newark on December 23 (today is my third full day in my new homeland). When I left Sweden it was like 26 degrees F and a fair amount of snow. I get to Newark and it's sunny and around 38 degrees and no snow at all. I saw a kid who looked like she was from South America, she had a hat on that looked like a racoon and the hat had long ears like you could wrap around your neck like a scarf or something. She looked like she was freezing her butt off, whereas I was like burning up! lol I thought to myself that if I'd've put the hat on, I would have melted.

My flight went very well, so far above my expectations that I can't put it into words. That said I was obviously very tired when my wife and her daughter picked my up at Pixburgh In'ernashun'l Airport N'at. When we got home, after we'd dropped her daughter off at her daughter's dad's place, I'd been on the road for about 24 hours, and even if it went well, I was still beat of course. I think it's going to probably take me a week or two to get adjusted to the climate and the time difference etc. But I am thrilled to finally be here after all this time. And hey! This morning I even slept until 5:28 AM!
