Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

I did a study similar to this one when I was in college. Of course, we didn't have the benefit of the internet then... I had to poll people in person! Shocking, I know. lol.

Since there seems to be some confusion, and the site isn't a lot of help, I'll try to explain a little better what the scores mean.

The higher your percentage, the LESS your morality is influenced by the subject at hand. For instance, if you score 25% for the catagory "Family", it means you are MORE inclined to think that family or community represent a greater moral priority than non-family. On the other hand, someone who scores 100% on "family" does not give higher moral "weight' to a relative or countryman over a stranger or foreigner.

This is the primary goal of this survey. It isn't to say person A is more moral than person B, it merely demonstrates the differing attitudes about what the moral choice is in different situations.

My scores, for example....

Geographical Distance :: 100% :: Means I feel morally obligated to help someone no matter where they live, whereas someone else with a lower percentage might feel more obligated to people in their community/country.

Family Relatedness :: 67% :: Means I feel slightly more morally obligated to help a relative than a stranger.

Acts and Omissions :: 67% :: Means, for the most part, I feel that I am responsible if my actions injure someone else.

Scale :: 100% :: Means I do not take scale into consideration. ie: kill one to save 10 or kill 1,000 to save 10,000 is the same to me.

Hope that explains it a little bit better....

(Good grief.....can you tell I was a Sociology major before I switched to English/History?)

Yes...... we care more about our family than a bunch of strangers in Africa, how terrible.

Who told you that was terrible? Sounds like someone's feeling guilty about not being as morally parsimonious as the rest of us...

I was being sarcastic. :P

me too :P

ETA: Although I'm starting to like using "morally parsimonious". I bet I can make a lot of people feel pretty bad by telling them how morally unparsimonious they are...
