Thanks! I agree. I am just gonna stick to our Aug AOS thread. I read questions from other's occasionally but do not offer any help because of the forums gods seem to think no one is better educated than them. I might not know all of the answers when it comes to immigration but I have class, and tact. No education can teach you that!

I think many times folks on here can be a but abrupt. I abandon the site for awhile but came back with a thicker skin. Sometimes I think it is how it is read as well, I responded to a scared girl about AOS and how it's done and it appeared one individual was attacking her saying AOS was illegal. I made a simple comment like "it begins" and that individual got upset saying she was tryin to help. Her response was confusing and she did not clarify it just appeared to be attacking. I have learned to just ignore, have a thick skin and move on.

Stay here with us August folks so we can rejoice with you when you get your approval!! Plus, it's much easier to talk I94, EAD and AP with VJ'rs, folks at work think I'm nuts!!

I asked two questions, the second being "My husbands passport (Haitian passport) expires in May 2013. Once he receives his GC, will he need to apply for a US Passport? Will his Haitian Passport be invalid? I am not sure how any of that works and would appreciate any advice on what happens for travel documents once GC is received"?

I sincerely did not know ONLY US Citizen can have US Passports and really didn't give that much thought. But two different people (big time know it alls on this site) basically attacked me about claiming my husband as a US Citizen, which I did not do. My post is on the AOS thread, anyone can see what I asked and see that I never claimed him to be a US Citizen, I just simply did not know the process once he gets his green card, does he apply for a US Passport or does he renew his Haitian Passport. They totally went off on me telling me about how it's breaking the law, how it can trigger deportation, etc, etc. But I never, ever claimed him to be a US Citizen, I just asked if he applies for a US Passport. Maybe it was a stupid question, but did it really warrant the personal attack?????

People are always gonna have something negative to say. You're gonna have to learn to ignore them. I remember when i was putting my application together i'd gone to this attorney and had her look through my document to ensure everything was filed correctly and those i wasn't certain about she'd be able to shed some light on(particularly my G-325A and missing I-94). Long story short what she told me to do wasn't exactly what i was supposed to do. After i realized the error, i found this site and came looking for help. Majority of the people were helpful and sympathetic but there were a few who were wishing for USCIS to have me on the next flight out.

This is a public forum, everyone is going to have something to say whether negative or positive for a number of different reasons(jealousy, discrimination, hatred for immigrants or just plain ignorance). As hurtful as some of the attacks may be just keep your head up high. And remember you have a group of filers in the August AOS thread that's your little VJ family. We're all here for you and in this thing together.

Same with my hubby and his bf; I got the same response. I was so excited that I cried and they were laughing at me lol. They didn't understand. They're Americans and before me they didn't understand nor paid attention(it wasn't something they cared about). I'm so grateful to have you guys on this site. A group of strangers from all different walks of life, with only one thing in common (and who's more than likely to never meet) became so close. Every time something good happens for one of us, or we get some reassurance from another member on here. I feel an imaginary high five or a tap on the back. It's crazy

Having to wait on someone else is the worst!! I am the type that does what needs to be done immediately! I hate wasting time, it's a pet peeve of mine. I am sorry you are having to wait for him. Does he realize how important this issue is?? Does he know you have a time frame to get the paperwork back to USCIS?? Maybe put a bug in his ear about it....

Most likely it's because your local office is busier than others OR if you are adjusting from a K-1, AOS seems to take a tad bit longer for some, but not all. But that's a very vague glance at other's timelines from other forums so don't take too much into that. It just seems to be hit and miss on those but just a percentage of them seems to take longer than adjusting without going through the K-1 process.

Maybe someone else could shed more light into this for you. But I think most likely it's just your local office.
