I've tended to take a lot of this advice from VJ.com with a pinch of salt. A lot of people here have been through the process and been successful. It doesn't make them experts and I find some of the response on the site condescending and flavored with a hint of bitterness, especially in regards to people that concurrently file their paperwork from folks going through K-1 or CR-1. I'm a total novice at this, but have been travelling all over the world so have no issues with visa paperwork or waiting times usually. This is different though, it's the rest of my life, not just a working visa or tourist visa...

I'm pretty sure my paperwork is good. I just tend to dissect things in my mind a little too much. My wife and I just feel great right now as it's no longer in our hands - other than to continue to collect evidence for the interview.

I see you've had your NOA1s. I bet that felt good?

Dang it, I went and made a schoolboy error...

I sent my package by USPS Express and forgot it was Saturday today, so they attempted delivery and left the following card, or at least that's what their website says:

"We attempted to deliver your item at 11:30 am on August 18, 2012 in CHICAGO, IL 60603 and a notice was left because the business was closed. You may arrange redelivery by visiting www.usps.com/redelivery or calling 800-ASK-USPS, or may pick up the item at the Post Office indicated on the notice. If this item is unclaimed after five days then it will be returned to the sender."

I'm hoping it will be redelivered on Monday or that it was left there and it will be picked up on Monday. I sent it to the street address for Express deliveries rather than the PO BOX as USPS wouldn't mail Express to a PO BOX.

Nothing to worry its normal, by the way U can send USPS express mail to PO box address.

It's good that I shouldn't have anything to worry about.

My local post office said they couldn't Express Mail to a PO BOX so I just went with their advice.

Good news about your bio-metrics. Hope you are able to nip in early.

Mailed the packet (I-130/I-485)on 8/8 which was delivered on 8/10. Received Bio appointment letter on 8/18 for 8/31 appointment - still waiting for NOA1 though! Oh the waiting game! Good luck to you all August filers - it'll be interesting to see the paces at which our different cases move!

That's a pretty quick bio-metrics appointment. I guess it moves at different paces around the US depending on how much work each office has?

I'm hoping that my error in sending the Express packet for delivery on a Saturday will be rectified today and I can relax a little. The scanning on the USPS website hasn't updated as of yet though...

Good luck! You might even be lucky enough to get your interview before the EAD. That would be great, eh?

My package was delivered a little earlier today so I'm very happy now. Just got to sit back and wait for the NOA1s now...

Day 4 of the process today. USCIS only received the package yesterday lunchtime so I don't expect much to happen for the next couple of few days.

When should I expect the text messages/emails to start rolling in? I filed a G-1145 with the package, but I assume that it doesn't always mean you'll get any texts/emails?

Hi, thanks for the info. From your timeline I see you got your email 8 days after delivery (a good reason we update our timelines!). I figured it would take a little bit of time for my paperwork to get into the system.

I think when it's hard to predict, so YMMV. But we'll get there. Just need a lot of patience.

Where are you in ATL? I'm from Gwinnett county by the way. I'm going back to visit family with her next week. We are very excited. I always love to live in GA but my job situation doesn't allow.

We're not in ATL at the moment. We're planning on moving to Newnan in the new year - better job and school opportunities, but for now we're in Twiggs County, near Macon.

I like GA, but we'd love to live in Oregon at some point down the line.
