August 2012 AOS Filers

Oh my, it's done.. No more obsessing over paperwork and organizing, our AOS is sent 8/8/2012 and received by USCIS 8/10/2012. Now the waiting game begins for our notices and interview. It's been a hectic journey up to this point, let's hope the remainder is a bit more smooth sailing.. Good luck to any fellow filers

I am another August filer. We mailed Aug 3rd, received on Aug 6th, but still waiting for NOA1. Hoping it comes soon!! I am glad there are other filers for Aug to connect with!!

I just posted my I-130/I-485/I-765 this morning by USPS Express Mail.

Glad the stressing and obsessing over paperwork is over, at least for now!

Indeed it does. I spent the whole of yesterday and this morning double checking and whatnot. I still have that feeling like I may have missed something though - although it doesn't really matter now...

Yes, last night at work!! They all 4 came in right before 1am, lol I was sooo excited and telling everyone, haha - if anyone wants to add me as a friend, by all means go ahead... we can wait it out together, lol

I'm just refreshing the USPS site every 2 minutes to see where my package is (it's guaranteed by 12pm today) and then I remembered that Chicago is -1hr to Georgia so I'm relaxed for the time being.

Would be good to more active on the board and talk to more people going through the process. I'm not really worried so much about my paperwork, just the waiting time.

I agree, having people to talk to helps! Especially when they are doing things around the same time. I worried right after I sent my packet but I think that's normal to do. The waiting time isn't so much the biggest deal, I am more worried I got everything right and pray I don't get any RFE's. 5 to 7 months, I know that's expected so I can deal with that....but I know me, I will be checking every day to see if anything's updated on my case, haha

Regarding the timescale, my understanding is that as I'm in the US and have filed concurrently, the process should only take 4-5 months, maybe even quicker? So I buoyed by the fact it won't be too long.

I looked through all my paperwork and didn't think I had anything that would be considered and RFE. The only thing worrying me is the I-864 my wife submitted. The I-864 instructions stated that if you didn't file taxes for any reason, enclose a letter explaining circumstances. We wrote one with reference to IRS documents that explained as she earned 0 for the last three years, she wasn't required to file. The I-864 form didn't have anywhere to indicate that so we ticked the box stating that we included Federal tax returns and wrote 'see attached' next to it. Hope it will be ok?

Most cases are adjudicated and interviewed without issue, so we have that on our side. I think as long as the paperwork is correct and the evidence is solid, they don't really have a reason to reject, right?

The process has different time frame. I've read some who move quick and other's take longer so there is no way of knowing. I just tell myself this could take 7 months and so if it happens quicker, than wonderful!! As far as the application/petitions, I am not sure on those because I am very inexperienced on this and not sure what is acceptable and not (outside of what is asked of you) but as long as you followed the instructions and did provide what they asked (or legitimate reasons for not doing so) I think you will be fine but again I am not the right person to ask, lol

And yes I believe as long as everything is correct and the marriage is valid, everything will be fine! I have no worried about that part of it
