CANADA to USA - No NOA1 but cheque cashed?!?!

Hello,

I feel a little lost - just like many here - because I have no information that helps me to know where in the process our application is!

We sent the I-130 in on April 3, 2012 and a few days later my husband got the whole package back with a rejection letter/NOA1 because we failed to put down Montreal as the consulate where I would be interviewing at. He corrected all the paperwork and mailed it back to the Chicago Lock Box with the rejection letter/NOA1 attached to it as directed. The rejection letter had a receipt number on it, which he failed to write down. On April 20, 2012 the cheque for the application fee was cashed. HOWEVER, my husband never got another NOA1 letter with a receipt number or anything. It has been 4 months (116 days) since we filed and we have not heard anything at all. Because we don't have a reciept number we can't even look the case up on the USCIS system. It is very frustrating.

My first question is:

Should we be concerned that we never got a second NOA1 after the cheque was cashed...or should we keep assuming that they accepted the application and forwarded it to the CSC?

My second question is: Does anyone know what applications are currently being processed? I see from the boards that it looks like April is now being processed...but I am not 100% sure if that is accurate or not.

Finally: Should my husband call the USCIS to see if they have a receipt number available for us, or will they just blow him off?

THANKS!

P.S. Out of curiosity: How long did you wait between your approved I-130 and your interview date in Montreal?

You can see in my timeline how long it took, NVC can take 2-3 months currently sadly

However, your husband needs to speak to a tier 2 representative at USCIS toute suite. Find where your case is

California is currently processing at 5 months

Good luck
