from Nigerian Consulate to Malaysian consulate cause my fiance is still in malaysia studying but would be rounding up by the end iof the year. So we are confused if the interview will be sooner than then so he could just stay in malaysia to have the interview at the consulate over there. But if the priocessing time would take another long period i think he 'll have no other option other than to take a permission from school and go to Nigeria for the interview. That's why i'll like to find out how long it would take for the processing of the 1 824 form. I got a letter from the NVC and it says in a week the petition would be forwared to the appropriate visa issuing post where the visa interview would take place.. after then he'll receive the first packet. I could fill this form and change it right now but what i would like to know is how lobg it would take for us to get to this stage again? if its an immediate change or it would take months again..I need help please Thanks

Hi everyone ,

I am about to fill the I 824 form for change of consulate . I would like to know how long it would take to be processed to know if i should fill it or not..Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

It is hard to say how long it will take, there are too many variables to accurately predict.

Remember the note, at the bottom of question 20 on the Form I-129F petition:

NOTE: (Designation of a U.S. embassy or consulate outside the country of your fiancé(e)'s last residence does not guarantee acceptance for processing by that foreign post. Acceptance is at the discretion of the designated embassy or consulate.).

Consider that you are dealing with a big government bureaucracy, any deviation from their norm only tends to introduce another variable that could alter the timing of your visa journey.

In the meantime, :time: It helps everyone that uses this forum. BTW, the Texas Service Center does not process I-129F petitions, your petition was sent to the Dallas Texas Lockbox location.

Good luck on your visa journey.
