when are you planning to return to the US? you will need a joint sponsor in the US for each parent.

Since you had no income, you can write a letter explaining why you didn't need to file taxes. You can sponsor your parents on assets if you are wealthy (preferably US based assets), or find a co-sponsor (or two-one for each parent) , ie a US citizen or greencard holder living in the USA who can stand guarantoor for them. Keep in mind if the parents are elderly, you will likely to asked to prove more than the usual 125% of poverty line- they will also want to see you can provide for the healthcare needs of the elderly parents.

At interview, your parents will also need to show you either moved back to the USA already, or plan on doing so at the same time as them.
