So did a painful, manual tabulation of all receipts #'s EAC1290277028 through EAC1290281250 (4222 receipts) and counted all the I-130's @ the VSC for what looks to be priority date Jan 25 applications. Selected this date at semi-random, as it looks like this is where VSC says they are at. Below are my results. Disclaimers on this calculation below. Can't believe how little I-130's there are compared to all the other work VSC does :-/

23 Pending Review

12 RFE's (8 received and pending re-review, 4 waiting for USC to respond)

2 Undeliverable mail

2 transferred to another office

1 denial

31 approvals. average approval date 5/23 (first = 2/22, last = 8/10) which would seem to put VSC on track for 5 month average. I guess this is where their little chart comes from, with average processing time?

Disclaimers on this

I'm pretty sure I missed a few I-130...got monotonous after a while and eyes started bugging out :(

I determined the 1/25 priority date based on the the first I-130 I saw that was pending between the dates of 1/24, and 1/26. So in other words, there may be some 1/24 and 1/26 priority date apps that got mixed in here, cause I can't tell what the priority date was once it moves off the initial review status.

Again...I may be off on the above also..but I hope this gives some nervous people a little better idea of what the actual numbers look like on any particular day at VSC.

What I found interesting though, which I hope some of you can comment on....is when I looked through these one by one, I noticed a definite pattern. All of the different application types seemed to be bunched together. So I would see a WHOLE mess of I821 & I765 with spots of 5-10 I-130's in bunches. There definitely is some sort of sorting done prior to assigning receipt numbers to apps. Also...I noticed that I-130 approvals would also come in bunches. So like 10 of these approvals would be bunched up together, and consequently, the RFE's would be bunched together (although in much smaller bunches). The pendings seem to be a bit scattered and in smaller bunches, some sprinkled in with the approvals bunch. Not sure what this means...and of course this is purely anecdotal, subjective and full of errors I'm sure. Maybe somebody else wants to dig deeper.

  • 5 months later...

Hi all...had another dull day so doing another one of these. Unfortunately there are a %$#@ load more I-130's on this particular priority date (6/1/12)....versus the last time I did this with a PD of 1/25/12. So most likely these numbers do not reflect an entire day, just a portion of it. I went through receipts EAC1290769442 - EAC1290770000 (558 receipts). Something like HALF of the receipts were I-130's which was quite scary. I didn't even finish the day, and already it's 10x more than when I saw. No wonder they are slow....good year for everyone to get married I guess? Anywhere, here's the tabulation. GL to all those still waiting.

Total I-130's = 267

Untouched/Pending = 136 (50.9%)

Approved = 89 (33.3%) / [Average approval date 12/6/12]

RFE = 36 (13.5%) / [Average RFE date 12/29/12]

Denial = 2

Withdrawn = 2

No Payment = 1

Transferred to another office = 1

One thing I saw which I felt sorry for, there was like a string of a dozen I-129's I saw where they were sent back to the applicant due to incorrect payment and no signature. :-(
