Lmao! I just have to laugh at the people asking what seem like the most idiotic questions. The document was not left in a easily reachable place. It happened the day AFTER they arrived. I have no safe, I keep my important documents in a locked suitcase under the bed. Things happen, my daughter is only 2 years old, she touches anything and everything she sees with her beautiful bright (and big) eyes. If you aren't going to post a helpful comment, then why even bother posting? - Thank you to all those that actually posted something helpful. I do not have a copy of the Visa before the accident, but I do have original copies of the picture in the Visa, so I'll just attach the picture and an explanation of what happened. I can't imagine being rejected permanent status for that nonsense.

Never try to remove marks or other blemishes from either a visa or passport. Both are designed to clearly show any attempt at tampering. I wouldn't be surprised if any attempt at repairing it resulted in the entire background image being removed, leaving only the word "VOID" visible.

The visa is no longer valid anyway. The CBP officer voided it when they put their stamp on it. Just explain what happened. I don't know of any basis for them to deny a green card because an invalid visa has been defaced.

Possibly, but there's only one person on this thread with a ruined document that is critically important.

It's already been said.. But just gotta say it again...

Why would you leave such an important document laying around?

:bonk: :bonk:

if you were to read...the passport was not "laying around" and do you per chance have children? Doesn't sound like it. The OP was asking for advice, not for people to pass judgment. If you have nothing to contribute to help her out, why even comment? I guess you're perfect. unsure.gif

Which is why I was asking for "advice". Either contribute, or don't post. Enough said.

although it's a photo,

this isn't photo paper .

The visa is printed in it's entirety on a special paper, similar to currency paper.

The photo inside the visa is a SCAN of a photograph - there is no glossy paper, no photo paper, nothing 'extra' .

IMO, attempt NO FIX - instead, simply make a photocopy to fulfill the requirements, then make a color copy of the page, and write a letter of attestation outlining what the little darling did to yer visa page.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

It doesn't matter, important documents need to be secured.. "passing judgement" is not the point, the point is; secure your important documents...

You may not realize this, but many documents brought by a forreign beneficiary are either impossible to replace or extremely dificult to replace.. Not all of us have a forreign consulate up the street.. so yes, it's important to make the point "secure your documents"..

I am far from perfect, put you dont need to be perfect to make a point.. and, when it comes to important papers, I have them all put away and organized..

Oooh one more thing mimolicious.. It was lying around, but my comment was kind of intended in humor.. but you clearly dont see the humor in it, so maybe my delivery was a little off.. or you just looking to start trouble... didn't you notice the little cartoon guys hitting the other little cartoon guy in head?

That's just funny.. I don't care who you are..
