Our child scribbled my Fiancee's (now wife) visa right on the picture!

it's the picture on the visa stuck in the passport, which if it's a US visa (which it is) it's printed on a special paper that isn't glossy.

am I just being stupid right now? because I really don't see how using a dry erase marker would get rid of the permanent one on the visa paper.

But the picture is printed on a photo pper, so it may have some type of gloss over-lay. I don't have time to go look at my husband passport to see exactly what you'll are trying to convey.

The trick works on cloth, furniture, etc.

OP, more than likely ANY attempt to "fix" the photo will result in the reviewing officer thinking the photo has been tampered with. Leave it as is, supply addition photos and confirmation it really is

I have four kids and I have never had any of our passports destroyed. But then, like all other important documents, they stay in the safe. Don't blame it on the kids, the kid was just being a kid.

OP, more than likely ANY attempt to "fix" the photo will result in the reviewing officer thinking the photo has been tampered with. Leave it as is, supply addition photos and confirmation it really is you, and a brief explanation of what happened.

• Nov 14, 2011 - I-129F packet sent.

• Nov 15, 2011 - Packet received and signed by (J. Authur)

• Nov 18, 2011 - NOA1 (Notice by text message and Email)

• Mar 02, 2012 - NOA2 (Notice by text message and Email) [Took 105 days]

• Mar 07, 2012 - NOA2 Hard copy arrived by mail.

• Mar 19, 2012 - NVC recieved my case.

• Mar 20, 2012 - NVC fowarded my case to US embassy in DR.

• April 05, 2012 - DOS gave us our interview date. (May 14th)

Do NOT use water or anything close to. There have been VJ members reporting a few drops of water on the visa and it was blurred out where the water was. If you do not have any copies made of the visa from before the kiddo played picasso, your best odds are to write a letter of explaination, and attach a (colour) copy of the visa in its current condition.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

I wouldn't try to erase it in fear of making it worse. Just explain the situation and I am sure that they will understand, things happen especially with children. To all of those scolding the AP things happen, no need to chastise, it is obvious the passport wasn't left where it could have easily been found. Kids are kids and they always do the unexpected. I think it's sweet that the baby brought her artwork to show Mommy innocent.gif

Schedule infopass and see what IO has to say about it. If u do then share ur experience. I'm sure it will happen to someone else in the future.

I think this is the best thing to do. Schedule Infopass appointment right away and advise USCIS. You don't want to mutilate the photo/visa and have USCIS think anything weird.

For the people asking how a 2 year old child got a hold of that passport, you must not have kids? :whistle: It was on top of our dresser, IN a small 'travel pack'. Our daughter managed to climb the individual drawers, unzip the travel bag, grab the pen, pull the lid off, and start scribbling on mommies face. Then she went to the kitchen, with the passport in hand, and showed mommy what she did. - Anyways, I can try the wippie option, but what if it gets worse? I dunno, maybe putting a letter next to it, explaining what happened may be enough?

Si, man... toddlers are miniature wrecking-crews.

Whether you mail the photo with an explanatory letter or you take it to an InfoPass appointment, attach or bring the cutest picture that you have of your daughter, with a caption saying "The Culprit" or "The Budding Crime-Suspect Artist" or similar. That should lighten the mood, if the USCIS person has kids or any sense of humor.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
