Whether you like religion/churches or not, doesn't mean that they should have to pay taxes.

You have to remember that most churches function off of donations from their congregation.

Those donations are there to pay for their rent, electricity, water, minister's/church staff salaries, mission trips, community efforts, etc. They have bills like everyone else but don't have a direct source of income. You don't have to donate/pay just because you attend a church. Many people do, but many people do not as well.

Churches are good for communities overall. If someone is hungry, needs clothing, help somehow, many of them use their donated resources to help people out in need whether they are a part of the congregation or not.

That isn't to say that some churches aren't scams overall, but those are few and far between.

I can't stand religion, but I see no problem with churches not paying taxes, when that money could better used by the church than it ever could the government.

They should pay taxes like any other business or corporation.

I find it hard to believe that with all the accouterments you find in churches everywhere, they have the nerve to say they cant afford taxes. They should file taxes and pay accordingly, like all other businesses do.
