Hi,

As per the USCIS website and regulations, your NBI is good for 1 (one) year. Regardless of anything anyone has to say. I offer this opinion based on personal knowledge and experience in the Phil. process.

Best wishes,

Sid

US Embassy is not part of USCIS and their requirements are not based on what USCIS may say. Besides validity of the NBI is a Philippine government determination.

I do know I have read of others with older NBIs being told by the CO at the embassy to get a new one. When my wife did her inteview it was only a few weeks old so it was a non-issue.

And that is how "tribal lore" becomes the standard, because "everyone" recommends "not to try it, but get one that is less than _____ months old". (fill in the blank with your favorite number.

In our case, her NBI was 6 months old, and I know I have read on here of a couple of people whose NBI was 8 months old. I think the 3 month rumor needs to be debunked. If getting a newer one makes one feel better, no need NOT to do it. But it's not necessary.

'nuff said.

So, I just finished my interview last August 15th, 5 am I was there already along with other applicants scheduled later than mine. I was scheduled 6:15am and yet those who were scheduled 7-9am were already there. We have to wait along bays ide and wait for the guard's queue. At exactly 6 am, we moved forward to the gates and had our passports and interview form noted by the guys in blue. (Please remove your passport cover)Upon entering the gates, you need to go through the thorough inspection. You will be asked to present your passport and your interview letter on the first window. They will then give you your stub number. You will then enter the waiting area where your stub number will be flashed on the screen. Make sure you submit your Interview letter with the other stub number(they'll give you two pieces; one for you and one is stapled on the interview letter)Drop them on Window 39 or give it to the usherettes(guys in blue). Mine before was 6058 and those who were in front of me got 6057. When I saw their number flashing on the screen, I thought that I will be called next. It doesn't work that way, the number given to you is just your Stub number, it's being called randomly. So, I've waited for a couple of minutes more and noticed that those were in front of me on the line already reached the third step!! I was getting worried at that time then but I didn't do anything, I just relaxed and mind you guys, because of 2 consecutive sleepless nights due to excitement, I fell asleep for like an hour or so. Thanks to the lady sitting beside me who watched out for my number but still, number still not flashed for the past 4 hours. I was so hungry and I was gonna step outside and grab some food to eat but, BOOM! It's my turn!!!!!

I was assigned Window 53 and interviewed by a chubby Filipina and to tell you honestly, my impression to her was not so good. She reminded me of my old terror professors. She first asked for my name, petitioner's name, asked when is my birth date and then went through my birth certificate. My biological father's last name was misspelled but we got it corrected through the help of NSO. The lady then asked for my father's birth certificate which I don't have since he left us when we were still young and no communication at all.(I'm sorry Ma'am, I don't have it with me. STRIKE 1!!!!) The lady asked for his death certificate which I was able to acquire but unfortunately, I didn't bring it with me on that day.(I'm sorry Maam, I have a copy of it but I left it at home. STRIKE 2!!!) She then noticed that I was late registered, she asked for my Baptismal Certificate!(I'm sorry Ma'am, I don't have it with me right now. STRIKE 3!!!!!) She then asked if the petitioner is an LPR or US Citizen, I said she became a US Citizen last year. My petition was filed when she was still LPR. She asked for any document regarding her naturalization.(I'm sorry Ma'am, I don't have any and the only thing I have here is her latest ITR. :bonk: STRIKE 4!!!) She took it from me and then reviewed it for a while. She asked for my Mom's photo, good thing I brought one and then signed some papers. What extremely bothered me was that, after she asked me to go back to my seat and wait again, her Boss (I think)was then at the window where I was and they were both looking at my birth certificate. I've lost hope and I was thinking about that possible things that might happen, and based on my own assessment, I would've failed my own application. After 15-20minutes, my number flashed on the screen again directing me to Windows 42 and I was so surprised, it's the Bio-Metrics section!!! B-)

After that, we were asked to go back to our seats and wait for the last interview, THE CONSUL OFFICER...It took only 5 minutes of wait time and then my number flashed again, Window 59, with a male American Consul. He asked for my biological father, I said he passed away and to make things short, I told him that I don't have much information about him. He said, "I understand, I'm sorry to hear that." Verified my name, birth date, Petitioner's name. After around 5 minutes, he told me, "CONGRATULATIONS! YOU PASSED THE INTERVIEW!!Just wait for your name to be flashed again for the delivery information." Boom! I can't help but tears fell down my face. :crying:

I then proceed to the last step which is Window 72. Verified my information again and then told me that I can go home. :wow:

hi alexisnicole, kumusta ang nbi mo sa naging interview mo if youn don't mind.? please let me know.

I just finished my interview last August 15th. Mine will expire in October this year but they didn't give me any further instructions about it so I guess, it's just fine. The guys at my back were asked to get a letter from NBI stating that they were cleared. I don't know what the basis are, but one thing that I've observed is the age. Once you're 24 y/o up and got a hit from NBI, even if you're cleared, you'll be asked to get another one. But I'm not so sure though. The other guy said that sometimes, it depends on the interviewer.
