Hello everyone, My husband has done his tax return for the past two years now and has listed his brother as his dependent each time. for next year's filing, he is thinking of filing for himself and do not include his brother. I would like u guys to advice me whether this will be a good thing he'll be doing or not? I am concern because by next year I might receive my interview letter and I really would'nt want this to mess up anything. Any advice would be apreciated.

Did he actually support his brother and does he earn enough income to support his brother and you?

If the income is sufficient for 3 dependents it is obviously the best thing to do for his deductions. Check the current poverty guidelines.
