i think is it just too much risk for the medical part. what happens if they cannot complete the process in one day? then the medical documents would be missing for the other day.

what part of 'minimum' are you missing?

what part of 'with no hitches' is not registering?

My entire 'go fast in Guangzhou' schedule is fraught, nay RIPE, with caveats.

What's UP ?

I went there for a week. They had their medical exams on Monday, document intake on Wednesday, and interview on Thursday.

YMMV.

caveats abound.

sorry.

in 'another life', i'd suggest 2 days for medical, 2 days for interview, and that's it.

without weekends, without medical complications, without 'false std' results.

I can certainly agree with your sentiment about government workers. Though honestly, Thomas Jefferson's thoughts about being wary of the government (particularly centralized) resonates strongly with me.

Your suggestion of a good massage sounds very good too.

my notion changes as government improves or counter-improve... much of social policy today is suppose to be like fdr... but the greedy and special interest just belly up the money in a swiss account all for themselves.

IMO, it's the medical exam that's the biggest variable here. These really aren't government workers, or workers that you can influence by having pull in a bureacracy. Tips in cash help, though.

The 2nd biggest variable is 'when' the visa packet is shipped out of the IV unit, after the interview day, actually leaving the building.

here is another question. does electronic processing have to go through china customs before reaching the embassy? i am just baffled by dos operator stating that it needs to go through china customs. how do i confirm that the embassy received the case?

so assuming everything goes well, they would send the visa next day? My (now) wife got the visa and the sealed envelope, via EMS mail, at her house in northern China 9 days after her interview approval.

here is another question. does electronic processing have to go through china customs before reaching the embassy? i am just baffled by dos operator stating that it needs to go through china customs. how do i confirm that the embassy received the case? For our K-1/K-2 visas, the paper copy was stuck in customs "limbo" for over a month, there was no apparent similar restriction on the electronic "SAFEFILE" copy. I kept contacting DOS in Washington DC daily, to confirm when the GUZ consulate "opened" or accessed the electronic "SAFEFILE." (Check April and May China forum threads between Darnell and myself for more details.) At that point, we did the "Darnell P3 shortcut" (details can be found on numerous forum threads and the VJ Wiki), which shaved off 2-3 weeks of wait time for receipt of the appointment and P4 packet info. Again, this was for K-1/K-2 only.

Good luck on your visa journey.

my wife just finished her medical..

according to my wife, you will get the same day report if your medical is done before 9am... otherwise you will get your report the next day afternoon. the vaccination is sent to the embassy and she gets to keep 1 for herself.

the hotels around that hospital cost around $750 - 1200 rmb per night.

as of now, my wife will pick up her report in 9.5 hours.

Huh ?

SAFEFILE is used, solely, for casefile movement INTO GUZ IV.
