Hello, dear all. Let me start with telling you my story briefly.

My bf and I got married last December. He is an American, I am not. So I left US and went back to my home country,so we could fill out all the papers the way it is supposed to be done.

Because of some unfortunate circumstances 6 month after, we still hadn't sent the papers to the USCIS.

And so we decided that I am going to come visit USA, coz we haven't seen each other in a long time and then I still planed to go back home... and then we were going to do the papers the way they are supposed to be done.

But...I got pregnant and I can not go back now. So we will file I-130 and I-485 for the adjustment of status now.

The question is: do we need to "explain" this situation to the USCIS (meaning adding some cover letters, papers, etc.)?My husband thinks we can add a letter or something, as well as some evidence of the pregnancy from the clinic? Can this be done? And if yes, what is the best way yo do it.

I would really appreciate some advice.

P.S I am sorry if this is the wrong subtopic, but I felt this one is the most appropriate.

The interview is the best place to bring up things like this, and even at that point may not be necessary if it's a straightforward AoS.

Thnx, everyone! We're having the papers filled out now and I was wondering...do you think it's worth filling out the I-765, because I htink we would be thinking about me working for another 3-4 months only...and as far as I understand it takes around 90 days before there is a reply from the USCIS on this...

Thnx again! :) And good luck to everyone with all these time consuming paperwork.

The other benefit of the EAD is that you can use it to get your Social Security Number. In some states, you need that for a driver's license. So, you might be able to get started on that a little sooner than if you wait for the green card.
