I-797 Notice of Action Clarification

Hello VJ'ers!

I just received the I-797 Notice of Action. Is this considered the NOA2? I received confirmation of USCIS receiving the I-130 via email but nothing in the mail. The I-797 was posted just 9 days after we received email confirmation from USCIS so I am just wondering if I understand this letter correctly (if so I would be thrilled as it's so quick and I don't have to worry about an RFE!).

In the letter it states the original petition has been sent to the NVC and the receipt number is 3 letters and 10 numbers. Is this my NVC case number?

If so, can I now apply to receive all correspondence to/from NVC via email? We live in Cyprus and the mail system here is neither fast nor reliable.

What is the next step then? I assume I just wait for the DS-3032 and then go from there?

Can we start compiling Police checks, medical, I-864 and any other forms? (don't have any idea what other forms we will need but I am sure that there will be some!)

THanks so much to anyone who answers and good luck to you in your journey. x

Does it mention anywhere in the letter that "YOUR I-130PETITION FOR RELATIVE HAS BEEN APPROVED"? from your profile seem like your are doing DCF? So it look like it could be your NOA2....

Yes it does say that the petition has been approved.

We are not filing DCF as it is not available in Cyprus but we are living together here and hope it will be expedited from the US :) (fingers crossed)

I think this is the NOA1, stating they have received all your documents.

I don't think its NOA1 cause in his signature line he states he rec'd NOA1 20 July 2012 - NOA1 Received (via email) and seem like they are filing aboard which could possible mean that it is indeed the NOA2 as he also mention they are forwarding the case to NVC. I would just double check with USCIS call and confirm this information. And once done you can go ahead and provide them with your email address....

Good luck!

It looks like your case has been auto-expedited as you are both living abroad. That seems to be happening often now. Join Saylin's thread and read the guides she links to in her first post: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/380887-nvc-filers-august-2012/

There is a template on here which you can use to email in the DS3032. That could save some time: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Email_DS-3032_form

Good luck on the rest of your journey.
