Hi guys,

Just wondering what is your experience for this situation:

How long it would take new SSN to be entered in Credit Bureaus Agency system?

I have been here for 4 months, and transunion, Equifax and Experian don't seem to have my SSN in their database even I spoke to their customer care. I spoke to Amex, and they told me that they are already reporting my payments to all 3 credit bureaus agency for last 4 months.

Recently PayPal wanted to verify my SSN but they are unable to do so. They told me they cant verify from their gov approved database or whatever.

I understand I am new here, so it may take a while to be fully entered in their system, but how long it may take the time based on your personal experience?

Thank you! :)

Ahh, you are confused.

The credit reporting agencies are not connected to the SSA system at all. They do not "enter" your SSN into the system. They are NOT government agencies and are NOT connected to them. "Government approved" means legal, by law, not from the government. It's fancy speech to make them seem legit, but it's just a private business. Credit reporting bureaus are private businesses.

Listen to this: A SSN is a unique number assigned to people to calculate how much Social Security they will get when they retire. THAT'S ALL.

Now, the credit companies piggy-back on the ability to have this unique number, and credit cards etc use this number to identify their customers. So, the credit reporting companies also identify a person's "credit-worthiness" by this unique number, by collating all of the uses of this number on credit accounts.

So, if you have not yet established any credit cards or loans, you will not "exist" to a credit reporting agency. It has nothing to do with the status of your SSN or anything.

Look up threads on "establishing credit in the USA." You have to apply for credit cards or loans and start using credit to obtain a credit score.

Great that you track your credit activities, many do not even bother. However, what you need to do is to contact Amex and file a complaint with them that no activity been reported to the bureau's. I am saying to contact the lender because if you contacted any bureau, they will tell you that the lender is the one that must initiate an investigation not you (happened to me).

Try this and hopefully it will get you going.

Since Amex also said they do, ask them to start an investigation since you can see nothing on your file and the bureau's insisted that Amex should be the one who do that.

Sure, you can do the same with all your lenders.

I am being so careful with that, and in 3 years of being here, my score is very very good compared to the nation average.

Good luck

The quickest way is to have someone add you to their credit card as an authorize user. Some credit card companies report AU to your credit report.

Google "myfico forum" and check it out. Having an excellent credit is awesome.

  • 2 weeks later...

I had the same problem with the 3 credit bureaus!!!

I have a credit card 11 months now, and when I tried to get my annual report, they told me I DON'T HAVE Credit on file!!!

I contacted my bank, and they told me that they are forced to report my info by law, and they confirmed that they are sending my info each month.

Further contacts with equifax, they told me that my SSN isn't on file.

I got the same response from the 2 other bureaus!!!

I had to send photocopy of my SSN and driver license to the c bureaus to fix my issue (sent twice to equifax because they lost the docs)

It took over 2 months to fix this!!!

I couldn't believe how this happens in USA, but I discovered that alot of procedures aren't perfect.
